Job Description

A Day in Your Life at MKS

The Senior Manager – Mechanical Engineering will lead and scale the MKS India Center – Engineering mechanical engineering organization across product architecture, mechanical design, vacuum and flow systems, precision assemblies, CAD, analysis, prototyping, qualification, industrialization, and lifecycle engineering.

Working with global teams across the complete product lifecycle, this leader will build technical depth, rapid-prototyping capability, common standards, reusable platforms, and future leaders while advancing the center from CAD and sustaining support toward subsystem, platform, NPI, and selected product ownership.

You Will Make an Impact By

  • Lead mechanical architecture, design, CAD, analysis, qualification, and lifecycle engineering.
  • Guide programs from concept and prototype through validation, NPI, industrialization, and sustaining.
  • Set standards for CAD, GD&T, drawings, tolerances, design reviews, manufacturability, and reliability.
  • Build rapid-prototyping and machined-part capabilities to accelerate design learning.
  • Advance structural, thermal, flow, vibration, reliability, and design-optimization methods.
  • Drive value engineering, standardization, reuse, alternate sourcing, and lifecycle cost improvement.
  • Build technical depth and future leaders through hiring, mentoring, and succession planning.
  • Align global teams on roadmaps, resources, standards, and accountability.
  • Use automation, analytics, knowledge reuse, and approved AI tools to improve speed and quality.

Key Result Areas

Delivery and Quality: Schedule predictability, prototype delivery, design quality, qualification success, reliability, and manufacturing readiness.

Development Speed: Concept-to-prototype time, design-iteration cycle, first-pass success, and effective use of simulation and rapid prototyping.

Lifecycle Value: Cost improvement, standardization, reuse, alternate-source readiness, and obsolescence-risk reduction.

Talent and Accountability: Capability growth, leadership pipeline, retention, and progression to subsystem, platform, and product ownership.

Skills You Bring:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics or a related discipline.
  • 15+ years of mechanical engineering experience, including leadership of multidisciplinary engineering teams and managers.
  • Strong technical depth in product architecture, mechanical design, precision assemblies, CAD, GD&T, tolerance analysis, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience leading the product lifecycle from architecture and prototype development through validation, qualification, NPI, industrialization, and sustaining.
  • Experience with rapid prototyping, precision machining or fabrication, supplier collaboration, design analysis, reliability, and failure investigation.
  • Demonstrated systems thinking, organization building, global collaboration, and product-minded decision-making.
  • Experience improving engineering effectiveness through standards, reuse, simulation, automation, analytics, or AI-enabled tools.

Preferred Skills:

  • Leadership experience in semiconductor equipment, precision instrumentation, industrial automation or other complex high-reliability products.
  • Track record in mechanical architecture, platform development, rapid prototyping, qualification, reliability, industrialization, and lifecycle competitiveness.
  • Experience scaling an India-based global engineering team.
