The Senior Legal Manager will be responsible for overseeing all legal matters within the organization, providing sound legal advice to management, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations, managing litigation, and mitigating potential legal risks. The role also involves supervising the legal team and coordinating with external authorities and stakeholders.
Role & Responsibilities
- Review and assess legal risks involved in various business deals and communicate them to management.
- Handle diverse legal matters after understanding clients or internal stakeholders cases.
- Provide legal advice and guidance on tender documents, contracts, and business agreements.
- Review and manage ongoing legal cases of the organization and work toward their resolution.
- Analyse potential risks before signing new business deals or entering new markets.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents to ensure compliance with applicable laws.
- Manage litigation and coordinate with external law firms or legal authorities as required.
- Review HR policies and agreements to ensure legal compliance.
- Develop and implement legal policies and procedures to ensure smooth functioning of the department.
- Hire, train, and mentor new members of the legal department.
- Liaise with external authorities, government officials, and judicial bodies as necessary.
Skillset required
- Strong leadership and managerial capabilities.
- Excellent relationship management and communication skills, especially for interaction with government officials, the judiciary, and negotiating parties.
- In-depth knowledge and experience in government and commercial contract administration, including contract negotiation, preparation, and execution.
- Proven ability to provide independent legal advice to senior management on complex matters.
- Demonstrated success in managing and conducting various litigation matters.
- Excellent planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive issues with discretion and professionalism.
- Experience drafting legal documents and conducting legal research.
- Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, and case management software.
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple legal matters simultaneously.
