This role is for one of our clients

We are looking for a senior Legal & Company Secretary (CS) leader to own and drive the entire legal and corporate governance function. This role will be responsible for building a strong compliance framework, managing legal risks, and ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements across multiple financial products. Reporting directly to the Cofounder and COO, you will play a strategic role in shaping governance practices and enabling business growth while maintaining strict compliance standards.

You will lead a lean internal team and coordinate with external partners or agencies to execute legal and compliance priorities effectively. The role requires a balance of strategic thinking and hands-on execution, especially in a fast-paced fintech environment with evolving regulatory expectations.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the complete Legal and Company Secretarial (CS) function for the organization
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory, regulatory, and corporate governance requirements
  • Oversee legal matters related to business operations, contracts, and regulatory frameworks
  • Drive compliance with RBI guidelines and other applicable financial regulations
  • Manage board processes, filings, and documentation in line with corporate governance standards
  • Identify and mitigate legal and compliance risks across products and operations
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders including business, finance, and operations teams
  • Manage external legal counsel and agencies to ensure efficient delivery of legal services
  • Build, track, and deliver on key KPIs/KRAs for the legal and compliance function
  • Provide strategic legal advice to leadership on business initiatives and regulatory changes

What Makes You a Great Fit

  • Strong experience in Legal and Company Secretarial functions, preferably in fintech or financial services
  • In-depth understanding of statutory compliances, corporate laws, and regulatory frameworks
  • Working knowledge of RBI regulations and financial product compliance requirements
  • Proven ability to lead teams and manage external stakeholders effectively
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a risk-focused mindset
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
