Key Responsibilities of the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Manager with a strong Learning & Development background to lead the development, design, and delivery of enterprise learning solutions. This strategic role requires deep expertise in learning journey architecture, proposal development, and team leadership. The ideal candidate will drive innovation in custom learning program design while managing a growing team and maintaining exceptional client relationships.

The Responsibilities include:

  • Lead the end-to-end design and delivery of complex custom learning journeys aligned with enterprise client strategies and business objectives.
  • Manage and mentor a growing team of learning design professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and thought leadership.
  • Develop winning proposals and RFP responses; translate complex technical solutions into compelling, compliant proposals with tight turnarounds and exceptional quality.
  • Build and curate comprehensive learning materials and assets (pre-reads, application assignments, action learning projects, reflection questions, simulations) for custom enterprise programs.
  • Establish and maintain a learning pedagogies and tools library, researching emerging methodologies, platforms, and solutions to keep Emeritus at the forefront of learning innovation.
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration with educators, subject matter experts, and technology partners to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Manage budgets and resource allocation for multiple projects; optimize delivery timelines and ensure profitability.
  • Build and nurture strategic partnerships with external vendors and delivery partners; negotiate contracts and oversee performance.
  • Serve as subject matter expert and trusted advisor to senior stakeholders and clients on learning design strategy and best practices.

Key Skills & Experience Required

  • Strong background in Learning & Development, organizational development, and/or educational program design with 10+ years of progressive experience in building and delivering enterprise learning solutions.
  • 5+ years of experience managing teams and building high-performing learning design departments or similar functions.
  • Demonstrated expertise in instructional design methodologies (ADDIE, AGILE, SAM) and adult learning frameworks.
  • Proven track record developing winning proposals and RFP responses for enterprise clients; experience closing large-value deals is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to articulate complex learning concepts to diverse audiences (C-suite, educators, project teams).
  • Strong experience collaborating with senior educators, university partners, and subject matter experts in designing and delivering high-impact programs.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); familiarity with design and content creation tools, LMS platforms, and video conferencing (Zoom, Teams, WebEx).
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously while maintaining quality and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to align learning solutions with business objectives and drive organizational impact.
  • Experience managing budgets, vendor relationships, and P&L responsibility for learning initiatives is highly desirable.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification in Instructional Design (IDOL, KPMG, ATD, or equivalent) or advanced degree in Education, Training & Development, or related field.
  • Experience with enterprise learning design in consulting, EdTech, or university partnership contexts.
  • Thought leadership: published articles, conference speaking, or contributions to L&D knowledge in the industry.
