Description

About Alvarez & Marsal

Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) is a global consulting firm with over 10,000 entrepreneurial, action and results-oriented professionals in over 40 countries. We take a hands-on approach to solving our clients problems and assisting them in reaching their potential. Our culture celebrates independent thinkers and doers who positively impact our clients and shape our industry. The collaborative environment and engaging work-guided by A&M's core values of Integrity, Quality, Objectivity, Fun, Personal Reward, and Inclusive Diversity - are why our people love working at A&M.

The Team

A&M's Insight Center is looking for a Senior Research Analyst to join our growing team in New Delhi, India. This is a newly created role within the Insight Center, reporting into the India-based Insight Center Manager / Senior Manager, who in turn reports to the Senior Director who leads the team globally from London. You will join a team of approximately six Research / Senior Research Analysts initially, all based in India (two of whom have already been recruited), and will play an important part in building a more tailored synthesis capability alongsideyour teammates in the IC. You will also work in tandem with our Global Capability Center (GCC) where you will be based and with whom the IC already works closely.

The role demands strong multi-tasking across a wide range of research requests. You will operate with a high degree of autonomy, owning requests from scoping through to delivery and quality checking your own work. You will be expected to take large, complex datasets and multiple sources and turn them into something far more insightful than a data pull: clear, well-structured and actionable outputs in PowerPoint and other formats that tell stakeholders what the data means and why it matters. Much of this work is collaborative: most of the time you will be working in conjunction with colleagues on projects, and you will frequently take the lead on these, agreeing how the work is divided, coordinating contributions from Research Analysts and peers, and bringing them together into a single, consistent and insightful deliverable. You will help to coach and support more junior colleagues through shared projects.

How You Will Contribute

  • Own and deliver a pipeline of research requests from scoping to delivery, working with a high degree of autonomy, whether delivering independently or leading a project team of colleagues, and prioritizing effectively to meet deadlines
  • Take large datasets and multiple sources and synthesize them into clear, concise and actionable insight, presented in PowerPoint, Excel or other appropriate formats, going well beyond data extraction to explain the so what, including bringing together colleagues contributions on joint projects into one coherent storyline
  • On joint projects, take the lead where appropriate: agree roles and the division of work with colleagues, set clear expectations and deadlines, coordinate contributions, and give constructive review and feedback to Research Analysts
  • Contribute ideas, constructively challenge and build on colleagues thinking, keep teammates and managers informed of progress, risks and changes in scope, and hand over work cleanly across locations and time zones
  • Act as a day-to-day point of contact for stakeholders in India, the GCC and globally, understanding their needs, agreeing scope, outputs and delivery timescales, and managing expectations
  • Source, analyze and interpret information from a range of databases, subscriptions and public sources, critically assessing the quality and reliability of data
  • Review your own work and the work of colleagues for accuracy, insight and presentation quality before it is shared with stakeholders, and flag risks, gaps or capacity issues early
  • Advise stakeholders on the most appropriate research approach, sources and tools for their question
  • Collaborate with IC colleagues globally to share workload, knowledge and best practice
  • Support thought leadership and business development initiatives with research, data and analysis
  • Make effective use of research databases and subscriptions (e.g. Capital IQ, AlphaSense and PitchBook), sharing feedback on usage and value for money
  • Contribute to processes, templates, quality standards and knowledge repositories that improve consistency and efficiency
  • Help raise awareness of IC capabilities, including research, subscriptions and thought leadership, across the GCC and the wider firm
  • Support the onboarding and informal training of new analysts joining the India team, and coach and give feedback to Research Analysts on shared projects

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience in a corporate research environment. Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent

work experience

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft 365, especially PowerPoint and Excel, including building clear charts and data

visualizations

  • Proven experience delivering research independently and as part of a project team, including coordinating the

work of more junior colleagues, alongside excellent personal research skills

  • Demonstrable experience of taking large datasets and multiple sources and synthesizing them into insight-led

PowerPoint or other formats, rather than simply compiling or pulling data

  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage your own workload and multi-task effectively across a range of research requests
  • Experience with research databases, ideally Capital IQ, AlphaSense and PitchBook
  • Demonstrable financial research, financial analysis and knowledge of financial markets and trends
  • Strong customer relationship skills, able to manage expectations, agree outputs and meet delivery timescales
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including sharing work-in-progress and giving clear,

constructive feedback to colleagues
