ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES |
Job Purpose/Objective | Ensuring Zero Serious Injury and Fatality in the Terminal. - Drive a positive safety culture through visible leadership and workforce engagement initiatives
Establishing and maintaining effective Health, Safety and Environment management system. Reporting to the top management on the performance of the system and need for improvement. Observe the provisions of IGTPL management and contribute to continuous improvement process and meeting of relevant objectives and targets. Arranging Training plans and materials.

Key responsibilities | Assist Head - HSE in strategic planning of safety and environment goals and targets to be used in line with GHSE and SCO region. Safety Program Management Develop and maintain the terminal's safety management system and policies Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments of terminal operations Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, and implement corrective actions Maintain safety records, statistics, and prepare detailed incident reports
Regulatory Compliance Ensure compliance with national/ international safety standards, port authority requirements and environment regulations. Keep current with changing safety legislation and industry best practices Manage relationships with regulatory agencies and coordinate inspections Maintain required safety certifications and documentation
Training and Education Design and deliver safety training programs for terminal personnel Conduct safety orientations for new employees and contractors Organize training for ERT and conduct regular mock drills. Train supervisors and managers on safety leadership and accountability
Operational Safety Monitor cargo handling operations, including container lifting, stacking, and transport Monitor and maintain permit to work procedures Ensure proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE) Coordinate safe vessel loading/unloading operations with operations teams
Emergency Preparedness Develop and maintain emergency response plans for various scenarios (fire, chemical spills, injuries, natural disasters) Coordinate with local emergency services Lead the terminal's emergency response team Manage business continuity planning related to safety incidents
Equipment and Infrastructure Safety Work with maintenance teams to ensure cranes, handling equipment, and infrastructure meet safety standards Review and approve modifications to equipment or facilities from a safety perspective
Environmental Health and Safety Monitor environmental compliance including air quality, noise levels, and waste management Implement Environment related sustainability programs and decarbonization projects.

QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES |
Skills and Competencies | Strong understanding of national/international HSE regulations Excellent communication, training, and presentation skills Ability to influence and drive cultural change toward safety excellence Proficiency in safety management software and incident tracking systems Strong analytical skills for incident investigation and root cause analysis Crisis management and decision-making abilities Availability for emergency response outside normal business hours.

| 4-5 years of supervisory experience, preferably in maritime, port, or logistics operations Experience with heavy equipment operations and cargo handling would be preferred. Knowledge of stevedoring operations and container terminal workflows
