Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Manager - (Gas & Chemical) to lead a multi-disciplinary engineering function across a global manufacturing network.
This role is responsible for providing technical leadership, system ownership, and engineering governance across the full lifecycle-from design and construction through to operations and optimisation. The position plays a critical role in driving standardisation, innovation, reliability, and sustainability across large-scale manufacturing facilities.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Strategy
- Lead, develop, and manage a multi-disciplinary engineering team across global locations
- Drive team capability through hiring, coaching, mentoring, and succession planning
- Define and track department KPIs aligned with global engineering and operational priorities
- Partner with senior leadership to shape strategic roadmaps, innovation initiatives, and continuous improvement programs
- Foster a high-performance culture focused on accountability, collaboration, and technical excellence
Engineering & Technical Leadership
- Provide subject matter expertise in chemical and gas systems within advanced manufacturing environments
- Own engineering standards across design, installation, operation, and maintenance
- Lead root cause analysis and implement solutions to improve system performance, reliability, and cost efficiency
- Drive global alignment on engineering best practices, standards, and methodologies
- Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and sustainability practices
Capital Projects & Construction Oversight
- Lead engineering input for large-scale greenfield facility and infrastructure projects across the U.S. and Asia
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to quality and compliance standards
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including construction, procurement, operations, manufacturing, and external partners
- Review and validate design packages, technical specifications, and engineering deliverables
- Drive cost optimisation and ensure financial accountability across engineering and construction activities
Stakeholder & Global Network Collaboration
- Act as a key interface between global, regional, and site-level stakeholders
- Communicate engineering strategies, project updates, and risks to senior leadership teams
- Provide recommendations and solutions to overcome technical and project execution challenges
- Support alignment and knowledge-sharing across global sites to drive consistent standards and performance
Operational & Technical Support
- Provide ongoing engineering support across global facilities to enhance efficiency, output, and system utilisation
- Analyse system performance data and identify opportunities for capacity optimisation and process improvements
- Support troubleshooting and resolution of complex technical issues across sites
- Drive benchmarking initiatives and implement best-known methods across facilities
Sustainability & Continuous Improvement
- Support global sustainability initiatives and programs aligned with corporate environmental targets
- Contribute to the development and rollout of global engineering standards and operating procedures
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve energy efficiency, resource utilisation, and system reliability
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline
- 15-20 years of experience in semiconductor, advanced manufacturing, or facilities engineering environments
- Strong technical expertise in chemical & gas systems and supporting infrastructure
- Proven leadership experience managing engineering teams and global stakeholders
- Strong project experience in large-scale capital/greenfield developments
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, global environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Willingness to travel up to 50-60% across global sites
