Flychem is seeking an experienced Senior Manager - Flow Chemistry to lead the development, optimization and scale-up of continuous-flow processes for specialty chemicals and high-value intermediates. The role will bridge laboratory chemistry, reaction engineering, process safety, equipment selection and commercial technology transfer.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead flow-chemistry projects from feasibility screening and route evaluation through pilot and commercial scale-up.
- Design and optimize continuous reactions using PFR, CSTR, packed-bed, static-mixer and other appropriate reactor platforms.
- Develop Design of Experiments (DoE) for temperature, pressure, residence time, concentration, stoichiometry, catalyst loading and mixing.
- Translate batch reactions into robust continuous processes with improved yield, selectivity, throughput, safety and reproducibility.
- Perform reaction engineering calculations including residence-time distribution, heat and mas transfer, pressure drop and scale-up criteria.
- Select pumps, reactors, heat exchangers, back-pressure regulators, sensors, PAT tools an downstream equipment.
- Integrate work-up, quenching, liquid-liquid separation, crystallization, solvent recovery an continuous purification where feasible.
- Lead process hazard assessment for exothermic, gas-liquid, high-pressure, unstable or hazardous-chemistry operations.
- Prepare process documentation, SOPs, batch/flow records, scale-up reports, technology-transfe packages and capital equipment URS.
- Mentor chemists and engineers and collaborate with analytical, production, EHS, quality and procurement teams.
Preferred Candidate
- M.Sc./M.Tech./Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Process Chemistry or a related discipline.
- Typically 8-15+ years of industrial process-development experience, with strong hands-on exposure to continuous-flow chemistry.
- Demonstrated scale-up experience beyond benchtop systems; pilot-plant or commercial implementation is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of kinetics, mixing, heat transfer, pressure systems, process control, PA and chemical process safety.
- Experience in specialty chemicals, pharmaceutical intermediates, cosmetic ingredients, fine chemicals or adjacent sectors is desirable.
