Job Title-
Senior Manager - Engineering & Maintenance
About the role:
Purpose of Position
To ensure the reliability, safety, and efficiency of production equipment and utilities across all TMUs by:
. Providing strategic engineering consultancy and direction for maintenance, projects, and automation.
. Supporting TMUs in reducing equipment downtime, enhancing energy efficiency, and improving asset utilization.
. Leading the implementation of preventive and predictive maintenance frameworks.
. Ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and supporting sustainability and innovation initiatives.
Decision Expected
. Approve specifications for new utilities or production equipment and validate engineering designs.
. Decide on prioritization of major capital projects and automation interventions.
Recommendations Expected
. Recommend engineering solutions and upgrades based on lifecycle analysis, failure modes, and technological advancements.
. Recommend standardization of preventive and predictive maintenance plans across all TMUs.
. Guide critical breakdown interventions across units and recommend root cause-based corrective actions.
. Recommend spare part management strategy (including VED classification) for critical assets.
. Operates across TMUs with various partners, varied infrastructure, geographies, climates, and operational scales.
. Interfaces with multiple stakeholders including Unit Heads, Maintenance Managers at TMUs, Quality, Safety, and Procurement teams.
. Needs to align engineering standards and maintenance KPIs across units while accommodating local regulatory norms and operational constraints.
. Supports a mix of legacy systems and modern automated lines, necessitating adaptive problem-solving and multi-disciplinary expertise.
Act as a functional leader and mentor to the maintenance teams at each TMU.
Influence without direct authority by setting best practices, frameworks, and processes for engineering and maintenance.
Coach and build capabilities of engineering teams through training, knowledge sharing, and audits.
Lead cross-functional teams for key project implementations or systemic issue resolutions.
Ensure coordination with external consultants, OEMs, and regulatory authorities as needed.
Qualification
Bachelor's and / or Master's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical)
MBA in Supply Chain is preferred
Experience
5-8 yrs of experience in CPG production/planning
Knowledge of machines and equipment used
Ability to identify and quickly resolve equipment issues on shop floor
Knowledge of risks in case of equipment issues and risk mitigation actions
Has experience in operational implementation
Has got exposure of at least 3 years in manufacturing excellence
Has familiarity with Lean concepts, Kaizen, TPM, Integrated Management System, OSHAS, 5S, six sigma etc.
Is well versed with different analytical tools like Pareto, Poka Yoke, Value Engineering
