Senior Manager, Data Technology Services

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Senior / Manager, Data Technology Services to oversee the operational management of data platforms, applications, and supporting technology services.

The role is responsible for ensuring platform availability, operational stability, service performance, governance, vendor management, and cost optimisation. The successful candidate will also lead and coordinate operational and technology-related projects, ensuring initiatives are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with business objectives.

This role requires a strong blend of skills around operations & service management, stakeholder engagement, financial oversight, and project / vendor management, supported by a solid understanding of data and cloud technologies.

Key Responsibilities

Data Platform Operations & Service Management

  • Manage day-to-day operations of data platforms, applications, and technology services.
  • Monitor service availability, platform performance, data pipelines, and operational processes.
  • Establish and maintain operational procedures, runbooks, and support documentation.
  • Drive improvements to platform reliability, performance, security, and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with organisational technology, security, and governance requirements.

Incident, Problem & Change Management

  • Lead production incident tickets or enquiry via the ITSM system, manage the escalation, communication, and resolution activities.
  • Coordinate root cause analysis (RCA) and drive corrective and preventive actions.
  • Oversee change and release activities to ensure operational readiness and minimise risk.
  • Monitor operational risks and ensure timely remediation with the SLA

Stakeholder Management

  • Act as the key operational point of contact between technology teams, vendors, and business stakeholders.
  • Communicate incidents, risks, service impacts, and recovery status clearly to stakeholders.
  • Translate technical issues into business impact for management.
  • Facilitate operational governance meetings and service reviews.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations during incidents and service disruptions.

IT Cost & Financial Management

  • Manage technology consumption, chargeback mechanisms, and cost allocation processes within NHG
  • Monitor platform usage and identify opportunities for cost optimisation where possible.
  • Manage budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and cost management.
  • Provide transparency into technology costs and utilisation across business units.

Project Management

  • Manage and coordinate small-mid scale AI/ML-related projects from initiation through delivery.
  • Develop project plans, track milestones, manage risks, issues, dependencies, and budgets.
  • Coordinate resources across business, technology, and vendor teams.
  • Ensure projects deliver expected business outcomes and operational readiness requirements.
  • Provide project status reporting to stakeholders and management.

Requirements

Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 8+ years experience in IT Operations, Technology Operations, Data Operations, Service Delivery, or related environments.
  • Proven experience managing technology operations in a complex enterprise environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in incident, problem, change, and service management.
  • Experience managing vendors, outsourced service providers, and technology contracts.
  • Experience delivering technology, operational, or transformation projects.
  • Strong understanding of cloud technology, data platforms & pipelines, and BI & AI/ML solutions.
  • Experience with platforms such as Databricks, IDMC, AWS, or equivalent is advantageous.
  • Experience with ITIL, PMO, project management, or service management frameworks is highly desirable.
