YOUR MISSION:
We are seeking a Senior Manager Data Engineering to lead a team of Data Engineers responsible for building and operating scalable, reliable, and cost-efficient data pipelines on our modern data platform. This role combines technical leadership and hands-on development, ensuring engineering excellence through standards, code reviews, and best practices, while partnering closely with architects, analysts, and product stakeholders to deliver high-value data solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading Data Engineers: Provide technical direction, set engineering standards, and ensure delivery quality across multiple initiatives.
- Engineering Excellence: Establish and enforce coding standards, guidelines, and review checklists.
- Code Review: Perform and oversee code reviews to ensure engineering guidelines and best practices are followed
- Data Pipeline Development: Lead the design and development of scalable data pipelines using Databricks & Apache Spark (PySpark).
- Collaboration: Work closely with data architects, analysts, and product owners to translate requirements into technical solutions and deliverables.
- Communication: Communicate technical status, risks, and trade-offs clearly to stakeholders and ensure delivery transparency.
- Documentation: Ensure high-quality documentation for workflows, data products, and operating procedures.
YOUR TALENT:
- Technical Skills:
- Strong hands-on knowledge in Databricks and Apache Spark (PySpark)
- Solid experience with Microsoft Azure Synapse, SQL Server, and SSIS (ETL patterns, orchestration, and legacy-to-modern migrations)
- Experience designing/operating ETL/ELT pipelines with robust monitoring and troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of performance tuning and cost efficiency in cloud data workloads.
- Experience with Delta patterns and Databricks pipeline orchestration (e.g., workflows / managed pipeline patterns).
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- A minimum of 5 years experience in a similar role is required.
- Leadership Skills:
- Proven experience leading Data Engineering teams (technical guidance, coaching)
- Demonstrated ability to run code reviews, define guidelines, and raise engineering maturity.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication able to align technical solutions to business needs.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
