Job Description

A leading financial services organisation is looking for an experienced credit risk leader to drive credit card strategy across the customer lifecycle. This role is responsible for portfolio performance, credit policy, growth initiatives, and risk management.

You will work closely with Product, Data Science, Risk, and Operations teams to develop and execute strategies that support sustainable growth while maintaining strong risk controls.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead credit card strategy across acquisition, underwriting, credit line management, pricing, instalment programmes, and collections.
  • Manage portfolio performance and drive sustainable, risk-adjusted growth.
  • Develop and refine credit policies, risk appetite, decision frameworks, and portfolio guardrails.
  • Monitor portfolio health, including delinquency, utilisation, profitability, customer behaviour, and vintage performance.
  • Use internal, bureau, and alternative data to identify opportunities and improve results.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to design, test, and scale new credit strategies.
  • Drive structured experimentation through testing, monitoring, and performance reviews.
  • Develop collections and recovery strategies to improve portfolio outcomes.
  • Build and lead a high-performing credit strategy and analytics team.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal governance standards.
  • Present portfolio insights and recommendations to senior leadership.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
  • 12+ years of experience in credit risk, portfolio management, credit analytics, or credit strategy within banking, lending, or fintech.
  • Strong experience managing credit card or revolving lending portfolios.
  • Deep understanding of the consumer credit lifecycle, from acquisition through collections.
  • Proven ability to manage portfolio performance and deliver strong risk-adjusted returns.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with credit bureau data, scorecards, decision engines, and alternative data sources.
  • Proven people leadership and stakeholder management experience.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.

Preferred:

  • Experience in a digital bank or high-growth fintech environment.
  • Exposure to credit policy, portfolio governance, or expected credit loss frameworks.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML-driven credit models and experimentation frameworks.
  • FRM, CFA, or similar professional certifications.
