Position Summary:
The Senior Data Center Civil Manager is responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and delivery of large-scale data center construction projects. This role ensures that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards. The manager coordinates with cross-functional teams, contractors, vendors, and stakeholders to drive successful project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage all phases of Data center construction projects, from design and permitting through to commissioning and handover.
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
- Oversee site activities, ensuring compliance with construction plans, safety regulations, and quality standards.
- Manage relationships and negotiations with contractors, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and operations teams to align project objectives and resolve issues.
- Monitor project performance, identifying risks and implementing mitigation strategies.
- Prepare and present regular project status reports to senior management and stakeholders.
- Ensure adherence to environmental, health, and safety policies on-site.
- Lead teams of construction managers, engineers, and site supervisors, providing mentorship and guidance.
- Drive continuous improvement in construction processes and methodologies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
- 15 + years of experience managing large-scale data center or critical facility construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of data center infrastructure systems, including electrical, mechanical, and structural components.
- Proven track record of delivering projects on time and within budget.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Familiarity with industry standards and best practices (e.g., Uptime Institute, TIA-942).
- Proficiency with project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced and high-pressure environments.
Preferred Skills:
- PMP or similar project management certification.
- Experience with sustainable construction and green building practices.
- Knowledge of local building codes, regulations, and permitting processes.
