About the Role

Position Title: Manager /Senior Manager - Tendering

Responsibilities

  • Technical & Commercial Leadership
  • Lead detailed technical and commercial reviews of LV/MV tender packages to ensure accuracy, risk mitigation, and full compliance with client specifications.
  • Evaluate pricing strategies, commercial terms, and cost structures to ensure competitiveness and profitability.
  • Identify technical and commercial risks and propose mitigation strategies during bid preparation.

  • Proposal Development & Client Specification Analysis
  • Analyse client specifications, tender documents, and contractual requirements to extract critical inputs for proposal development.
  • Prepare and validate key data inputs required to support high-quality proposal documentation.
  • Ensure alignment between technical solutions, commercial assumptions, and customer requirements.

  • Standardization & Process Excellence
  • Implement end-to-end standardization of tender deliverables, including:
  • Technical Deviations & Clarifications
  • Feeder Lists
  • MBOMs (Manufacturing Bill of Materials)
  • Approved Make Lists
  • Datasheets
  • System Architecture documents
  • Cost Sheets
  • Reduce turnaround time and rework through standardized templates, checklists, and workflows.

  • Process Improvement & Digital Enablement
  • Drive departmental efficiency by launching process-improvement initiatives across tendering activities.
  • Adopt modern tools, automation, and best practices to enhance speed, accuracy, and collaboration.
  • Define and track KPIs related to tender cycle time, hit rate, and quality metrics.

  • Order Loss Analysis & Management Reporting
  • Prepare Order Loss Analysis (OLA) reports for major bids.
  • Identify trends related to pricing, technical gaps, commercial terms, or competition.
  • Provide actionable insights and recommendations to senior management for continuous improvement.

  • Cross-Functional & Sales Collaboration
  • Work closely with sales, engineering, SCM, and finance teams to ensure timely and coordinated bid submissions.
  • Manage submission timelines and priorities for multiple concurrent tenders.
  • Respond swiftly to urgent domestic and export enquiries, ensuring speed without compromising quality.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (Master's degree preferred)
  • 5 to 8 years of experience in central tendering, proposals, or techno-commercial roles
  • Proven track record of handling large and complex domestic and export tenders
  • Prior experience in leading teams and driving transformation initiatives is highly desirable

Required Skills

  • Strong expertise in LV/MV electrical systems and tendering processes
  • Deep understanding of technical specifications, costing, and commercial terms
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Proven experience in process standardization and operational excellence
  • Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration abilities
  • High attention to detail with the ability to manage tight deadlines
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, tendering tools, ERP systems, and documentation platforms
