The role combines hands-on technical leadership with coordination across research institutions, project teams, and cement and concrete industry stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and operationalise new concrete laboratory facilities, including development and implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs), quality control (QC) norms, safety protocols, and documentation systems.
  • Develop, test, and optimise a wide range of concrete mix designs, including high-value and high-performance concretes for structural and non-structural applications.
  • Conduct testing of concrete in fresh and hardened states, including preparation of mortar and concrete specimens, testing, analysis, interpretation of results, and reporting.
  • Lead laboratory-scale and pilot-scale production of different types of concretes using supplementary cementitious materials and industrial by-products.
  • Manage pilot production of structural and non-structural grade concretes and concrete products, including raw material selection, characterisation, process optimisation, and performance analysis.
  • Provide technical testing, analysis, and troubleshooting support to internal research and project teams.
  • Coordinate with external and institutional research laboratories for collaborative research, validation studies, and joint testing activities.
  • Engage with ready-mix concrete (RMC) plants, cement manufacturers, and construction industry stakeholders to understand operational challenges and provide customised, application-oriented technical solutions through site visits and field support.

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strong technical expertise in cement chemistry, concrete technology, and materials testing.
  • Hands-on experience in laboratory setup, pilot production, and quality systems.
  • Ability to translate research and testing outcomes into practical, industry-ready solutions.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and coordination skills.
  • Comfort working across research, field, and industry environments.

Qualifications

  • Postgraduate degree in Materials Science, Civil Engineering, Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering.

Experience
