Senior Mainframe Technical Lead

Job Description:

• The Senior Mainframe Developer will provide technical leadership and advanced support for batch processing activities within the test environment
• This role is responsible for overseeing batch operations coordinating release activities leading major incident resolution efforts supporting data refresh initiatives and driving continuous process improvements
• The position will work closely with application development teams infrastructure organizations business partners and offshore support teams to ensure the stability availability and performance of critical test environments
• The individual will serve as an escalation point for complex technical issues and provide guidance on mainframe technologies automation opportunities and operational best practices while assuming lead responsibilities and coordinating team activities when required

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide technical leadership and oversight for batch processing and test environment operations
• Serve as the primary escalation point for complex batch failures and environment related issues
• Coordinate monthly quarterly and major release support activities
• Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis efforts for critical incidents and recurring operational issues
• Support and oversee data refresh and environment maintenance activities
• Develop modify and maintain JCL REXX COBOL and related mainframe components
• Support CICS and DB2 applications and associated batch workloads
• Review and improve operational procedures standards and documentation
• Partner with offshore support teams to ensure effective knowledge transfer and operational consistency
• Monitor workload automation and scheduling activities using ESP
• Support software migration deployment and change management processes
• Develop and analyze KPI metrics service performance reporting and operational dashboards
• Collaborate with application development infrastructure and business teams to ensure successful delivery of testing and release activities
• Identify opportunities for automation operational efficiencies and process improvements
• Participate in audit compliance and risk management activities as required
• Provide functional leadership and day to day guidance to offshore team members when required
• Act as a team lead during critical incidents release activities and high priority operational events
• Coordinate work assignments escalations and communication between offshore resources application teams infrastructure teams and business stakeholders
• Ensure operational procedures standards and support processes are consistently followed across the team
• Assist management in prioritization workload balancing knowledge transfer and operational readiness activities

Technical Requirements:

• Experience supporting IBM z OS mainframe environments
• Hands on experience with JCL REXX COBOL CICS and DB2
• Experience troubleshooting complex batch processing and job scheduling issues
• Strong understanding of release management and testing lifecycle support
• Experience leading incident resolution and root cause analysis efforts
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Ability to work effectively in a fast paced operational support environment
• Ability to coordinate across multiple technology teams and business stakeholders
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Additional Responsibilities:

• Experience with COBOL JCL Assembler EasyTrieve and SAS reporting
• Experience utilizing ESP workload automation and scheduling tools
• Experience with ChangeMan software configuration and release management processes
• Familiarity with test environment management and data refresh procedures
• Experience creating and presenting KPI dashboards metrics and operational reporting
• Knowledge of ITIL based incident problem change and service management processes
• Experience supporting large scale enterprise mainframe environments
• Experience leading offshore teams and coordinating global support models
• Exposure to automation and process improvement initiatives
• Previous experience serving in a technical lead or team lead capacity
