The Role
The right engineer will help drive the success of
power IP and platform features across AMD products through technical leadership, cross-functional coordination, and strong execution from pre-silicon architecture through post-silicon implementation and product delivery.
This is a high-visibility, multi-functional role that brings together Linux kernel development, device drivers, virtualization, embedded Linux, and platform enablement. You will work closely with architecture, hardware, firmware, software, validation, and product teams to resolve technical dependencies, deliver robust platform solutions, and support AMD's commitment to delighting customers.
The Person
The ideal candidate is a curious, collaborative, and results-oriented engineer who enjoys solving complex system-level challenges. You bring strong ownership, clear communication, and the ability to work across teams to align priorities and drive issues to closure. You are detail-oriented, adaptable, and motivated by continuous learning, innovation, and delivering high-quality solutions in a fast-paced engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive enablement and delivery of AMD platform features across pre-silicon and post-silicon development phases.
- Develop, integrate, and support Linux kernel and device driver solutions for embedded and virtualized environments.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve technical dependencies and align execution with program milestones.
- Debug and optimize system-level interactions across Linux kernel, I/O subsystems, virtualization layers, and platform hardware.
- Support Ethernet driver enablement, including MAC/PHY integration, virtualization, DMA, interrupts, and performance tuning.
- Work across Linux I/O interfaces such as PCIe, USB, I2C, SPI, UART, and GPIO to support platform bring-up and product delivery.
- Analyze and resolve complex issues related to memory management, cache coherency, shared memory, and zero-copy mechanisms.
- Partner with architecture, validation, and product teams to improve quality, stability, isolation, and performance across virtualized systems.
- Drive technical issues to closure while managing priorities and supporting successful program execution.
Preferred Experience
- Demonstrated experience in Linux kernel and device driver development.
- Strong background in Ethernet driver development and virtualization.
- Experience with MAC/PHY integration, VirtIO-net, SR-IOV, DMA, NAPI, and interrupt handling.
- Hands-on experience with Linux I/O subsystems, including PCIe, device passthrough, USB, I2C, SPI, UART, and GPIO.
- Experience with virtualization technologies such as Xen, KVM, and QEMU.
- Strong proficiency in C programming.
- Experience with kernel debugging, profiling, and performance analysis.
- Familiarity with Yocto-based BSPs for embedded Linux platforms.
- Strong understanding of memory management, cache coherency, zero-copy, and shared memory mechanisms.
- Knowledge of isolation and performance trade-offs in virtualized systems.
- Strong communication, ownership, problem-solving, and cross-team collaboration skills.
Academic Credentials
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field preferred.
