About Mihira Visual Labs

Mihira Visual Labs is a research-driven CGI and VFX studio redefining filmmaking through AI- and ML-powered workflows. We specialize in the development and production of full-length animated films, empowering creators with cutting-edge tools to accelerate high-quality storytelling and IP creation. Our mission is to make world-class storytelling faster, more efficient, and more cost-effective — where human imagination is the only true differentiator.

About The Role

We're looking for a Lighting Artist who can bring mood, realism, and storytelling to life through lighting. You'll work closely with Lookdev, Compositing, and CG teams to deliver high-quality shots while mentoring junior artists and maintaining visual consistency across projects.

If you're someone who understands not just how to light a shot, but why, then this role is for you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create high-quality lighting setups for shots and sequences in line with the show's visual style
  • Work closely with Lookdev, FX, Animation, and Compositing teams to ensure seamless integration
  • Develop and maintain lighting rigs, templates, and best practices
  • Ensure consistency in lighting across sequences and episodes
  • Optimize renders for quality and performance
  • Troubleshoot technical and artistic lighting challenges
  • Mentor and guide junior lighting artists, providing constructive feedback
  • Participate in dailies, reviews, and creative discussions with leads and supervisors
  • Meet production deadlines while maintaining high artistic standards

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 8+ years of professional experience in Lighting for VFX / Animation projects
  • Strong knowledge of Maya and Arnold (or equivalent renderers)
  • Solid understanding of light, color theory, composition, and cinematography
  • Experience working with HDRIs, light rigs, and physically-based rendering
  • Good understanding of render passes, AOVs, and compositing workflows
  • Ability to take direction, adapt quickly, and also work independently
  • Strong problem-solving and shot-finishing skills

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Houdini / Katana / Unreal lighting workflows
  • Exposure to episodic, feature film, or high-end commercial pipelines
  • Basic scripting knowledge (Python) for pipeline efficiency
  • Leadership or mentoring experience
