Reports To: Chairman & Managing Director (CMD)
Role SummaryThe Legal Manager is a senior in-house legal professional responsible for all legal functions of the real estate firm. Reporting directly to the CMD, this role leads legal strategy, contract negotiation, compliance governance, risk mitigation, due diligence, and litigation oversight.
Key ResponsibilitiesLegal Strategy & Advisory
- Provide legal advice and strategic guidance to CMD and leadership on real estate matters.
- Identify legal risks in projects, transactions, and operations and recommend mitigation strategies.
Contract Drafting & Negotiation
- Draft, review, and negotiate complex real estate contracts: Joint Development Agreements (JDA), Sale Deeds, Lease Agreements, MoUs, and others.
- Ensure contractual terms align with company strategy and protect interests.
Due Diligence & Land Title Verification
- Lead title verification and due diligence for land acquisition, development, and transactions.
- Prepare detailed due diligence reports for CMD decision-making.
Compliance & Regulation
- Ensure legal compliance with RERA, land laws, registration and local regulations.
- Monitor changes in laws affecting real estate operations and advise CMD.
Litigation & Dispute Management
- Oversee litigation, arbitration, or dispute resolution matters.
- Manage external counsel and represent the firm in legal forums as required.
Leadership & Reporting
- Mentor and guide junior legal staff.
- Prepare legal performance reports and present key findings to CMD.
Qualifications & Skills Law degree (LLB or LLM) and bar membership if applicable.
Typically 8to 10 years of relevant experience in real estate legal practice.
Strong expertise in contract law, property law, negotiation, and litigation.
Excellent leadership, analytical, and communication skills.
