Senior Counsel – Legal | Mumbai
A leading global financial advisory firm is looking to appoint a Senior Counsel to support its growing India and Middle East legal operations .
Location: Mumbai (Goregaon East)
Experience: 7–10+ years PQE
About the Role
The Senior Counsel will be a key member of the global legal team and will work closely with senior management, business leaders, clients, external counsel and colleagues across international offices. The role will be the first full-time in-house legal counsel supporting the India and Middle East jurisdictions.
Key Responsibilities
- Drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, including client engagement letters, NDAs, vendor agreements, inter-company agreements, IT agreements and employment-related contracts
- Providing day-to-day legal and strategic advice to the India and Middle East businesses
- Supporting corporate governance and local board matters
- Advising HR on employment matters, investigations, disciplinary procedures and employee documentation
- Supporting M&A transactions, including due diligence, documentation and integration
- Managing disputes and external legal counsel
- Advising on Indian and DIFC laws and regulatory requirements
- Developing legal templates, training materials and compliance processes
- Working closely with HR, Finance, Tax, IT, Marketing and the global legal team
- Driving improvements across legal processes and operations
Ideal Candidate
- 7–10+ years of post-qualification experience from a leading corporate law firm, multinational in-house legal team, or a combination of both
- Strong experience in general corporate, commercial contracts and/or M&A
- Extensive experience drafting and negotiating commercial agreements
- Strong knowledge of Indian corporate laws and regulations
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication and advisory skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, global environment
Experience with a multinational/US-headquartered organization, employment law, M&A, data privacy and/or DIFC legal matters is preferred.
