We are looking for a Senior Lead Engineer – Vehicle Systems with strong expertise in tractor transmission systems and smart calibration, to drive vehicle‑level performance, system integration, and diagnostics across farm platforms.
About the Role
As a Senior Lead Engineer, you will work at the vehicle system level, owning transmission behavior, calibration, diagnostics, and cross‑subsystem integration to ensure robust, smooth, and efficient tractor performance under real field conditions.
Responsibilities
- Vehicle System Engineering
- Develop strong vehicle‑level understanding of tractor subsystems including engine, transmission, hydraulics, and electronics.
- Ensure optimal interaction between subsystems for performance, durability, and efficiency.
- Electronic Power Shuttle Transmission (EPST)
- Calibrate clutch engagement, gear transitions, and forward/reverse shuttle behavior.
- Optimize torque transfer for smooth power delivery with minimal wear.
- Tune electronic clutch modulation for response time, smoothness, and durability.
- Electronic Hydrostatic Transmission (EHS)
- Work on hydrostatic transmission principles, including pump‑motor behavior and fluid power control.
- Calibrate speed, pressure, and flow control under varying loads and terrains.
- Optimize load sensing, proportional valve control, heat management, and efficiency.
- Eliminate jerks and ensure seamless speed transitions.
- System‑Level Integration
- Understand CAN / LIN communication between ECUs and subsystems.
- Analyze subsystem dependencies and manage trade‑offs between engine, transmission, and hydraulics.
- Ensure balanced calibration across systems for vehicle‑level optimization.
- Diagnostics & Fault Handling
- Analyze DTCs and identify root causes using diagnostic tools.
- Implement and validate fail‑safe and redundancy strategies for critical systems.
- Support development and field troubleshooting.
- Calibration, Testing & Data Analysis
- Perform lab and field testing to validate calibration strategies.
- Analyze vehicle and field data logs to identify trends and improve performance.
- Maintain accurate documentation of calibration procedures and results.
- Adaptive Calibration (Basic Understanding)
- Understand adaptive mechanisms in EPST/EHS and ECU systems.
- Apply feedback‑based calibration approaches for varying load and terrain conditions.
Qualifications
- Experience: 6–8 years
- Qualification: BE / B.Tech / ME / M.Tech – Mechanical / Automobile / Mechatronics
- Industry Exposure: Tractor / Automotive Transmission OEMs or Tier‑1s related to Transmission Systems (e.g., Danfoss, Bosch Rexroth, ZF, Carraro)
Required Skills
- Calibration & Diagnostics Tools: INCA, CANape, CANalyzer, ATIVision, MATLAB / Simulink (modeling & analysis)
- Core Skills: Hands‑on transmission calibration & troubleshooting, Knowledge of communication protocols (CAN, LIN), Strong fundamentals in mechanical engineering
