Senior Database Administrator (PostgreSQL , Kubernetes & Java)

Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Database Administrator to manage, optimize, and secure our PostgreSQL environments. You will be responsible for the full lifecycle of our database infrastructure, focusing on high availability via Kubernetes and robust disaster recovery. The ideal candidate blends deep technical expertise in database internals with a collaborative mindset to work effectively across engineering teams.
Core Responsibilities

Database Orchestration: Deploy and manage high-performance PostgreSQL clusters within Kubernetes environments using Crunchy Data or Percona like operators.
Performance Optimization: Proactively monitor and tune system health. You will utilize Grafana, Prometheus, and other performance tools to identify bottlenecks, optimize complex queries, and ensure peak efficiency.
Disaster Recovery: Design, implement, and test comprehensive Disaster Recovery (DR) strategies, specifically leveraging NFS servers for persistent storage and backup management.
Data Security: Define and enforce strict security protocols, including encryption at rest/transit, Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), and regular compliance auditing.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with developers to support Java-based applications, ensuring efficient database interactions and schema designs.
Team Leadership: Use outstanding communication skills to document technical processes and collaborate with the wider team to solve complex infrastructure challenges.

Required Qualifications (Must-Have)

Experience: 8+ years of professional experience as a PostgreSQL DBA with Java skills.
Containerization: Proven experience managing stateful workloads in Kubernetes.
Infrastructure: Expert-level knowledge of creating DR solutions using NFS.
Languages: Functional proficiency in Java to troubleshoot application-tier database issues.
Tooling: Experience building dashboards and alerts in Grafana.

Preferred Qualifications (Good-to-Have)

Automation: Ability to write Python scripts to automate routine maintenance and failover tasks.
Advanced Support: Prior experience specifically with the Percona Toolkit and Percona Monitoring and Management (PMM).
Ecosystem: Deep hands-on experience with Crunchy Data or Percona distributions.
