Senior Java Software Engineer

On a day-to-day basis, you will work as a Senior Java Developer supporting the ongoing development, optimisation, and enhancement of a critical enterprise technology platform. You will be responsible for feature development, product improvements, and helping solve complex business and technical challenges across a large-scale environment.

You will develop a deep understanding of the platform, its purpose, and how its various components and microservices interact. Working within a distributed architecture consisting of more than 100 microservices, you will design, develop, maintain, test, and optimise backend services while contributing to new features, reporting capabilities, dashboards, alerts, and broader platform enhancements.

A significant portion of the role will focus on improving system performance, scalability, observability, and resilience while supporting event-driven architectures and cloud-native solutions hosted in AWS. You will work closely with architects, product teams, and fellow engineers to implement enhancements, improve service reliability, and ensure the long-term maintainability of the platform.

The platform supports a global portfolio of connected products and services, providing analytics, device monitoring, predictive insights, reporting capabilities, and security-focused features such as asset protection, tracking, remote management, and location-based services.

Qualifications:

• 7+ years of enterprise level Java 8+ development experience
• Deep expertise with Spring Boot, microservices, and event-driven distributed architectures
• Experience designing and building RESTful APIs
• Hands on experience with AWS
• Working knowledge of Docker and container-based deployment
• Hands-on experience with MySQL, including schema design, query tuning, and performance optimisation
• Enterprise level experience with Cloud Watch
• Experience in unit testing with JUnit and Mockito
• Familiarity with resiliency patterns, including Resilience4j, circuit breakers, retries, failover, self-healing services, and bulkheads
• Experience working with CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or similar
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline
