As part of project pathways initiative, you would be involved in defining the target state platform and operating model of state street investment management arm.
Responsibilities
- Work under minimal supervision to analyze, design, develop, test, and debug medium to large software enhancements and solutions within Charles River's business and technical problem domains.
- Collaborate with Business Analysts and Product Managers to turn moderately complex business requirements into working and sustainable software.
- Participate in the design of product architecture within the team's scope of responsibility.
- Develop, test, debug, and implement software programs, applications and projects using Java, C#, SQL, JavaScript or other related software engineering languages.
- Provide thoughtful insight and direction in code reviews.
- Write unit and automation tests to ensure a high-quality end product.
- Conduct manual tests to ensure a high-quality end product.
- Contribute to written design and API documentation and participate in customer documentation process.
- Actively participate in the agile software development process by adhering to the CRD Scrum methodology including attending all daily standups, sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives.
- Participate in cross-team group activities to complete assignments.
- Provide mentoring to junior engineers/interns when required.
- Provide technical support in analyzing production issues L3/L4 to ensure the uninterrupted services to the business.
- Effective collaboration with the Boston, Business counterparts and other application teams
Preferred qualifications and education
- 8+ years of progressively responsible professional software engineering experience in core and enterprise java, including collections API, concurrency, multithreading, JDBC and web services.
- 5+ years of experience in designing and developing software solutions in a highly transactional, concurrent, event driven systems. Financial Trading systems experience is a huge plus.
- Hands‑on software development experience delivering, testing, debugging, and implementing applications using Java, with practical exposure to C#, SQL, and JavaScript, and the ability to work across multiple technologies as required by the role.
- Experience working with Java and Spring‑based applications, including contributing to low‑latency, high‑throughput, and globally distributed systems under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Demonstrated ability to produce clean, maintainable, and well‑tested code, with experience writing unit tests and supporting strong code quality and coverage standards.
- Experience with cloud-native architecture on AWS and/or Azure, including modern data platforms such as Snowflake and Databricks.
- Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies, including Docker, Kubernetes, and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform.
- Familiarity with messaging and streaming platforms (e.g., Kafka, Apache Flink) for event-driven and real-time processing systems.
- Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools, like Grafana, Prometheus, and Open Telemetry.
- Experience supporting and troubleshooting application and database performance issues, with an understanding of common performance bottlenecks in distributed systems.
- Working understanding of Agile development methodologies and software engineering best practices, with experience collaborating within cross‑functional delivery teams.
- Demonstrated understanding of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Generative AI concepts, with the ability to practically apply AI‑enabled tools (e.g., Copilot or similar) to improve productivity, decision‑making, and delivery outcomes.
- Working knowledge of Python for scripting, automation, or data analysis is highly desirable.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in financial services domain including exposure to OMS and EMS systems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with technical peers and business partners.
- BE or any equivalent educational qualification in Computer Science background.
