Job Overview
We are looking for a Senior Hands-on Java Backend Engineer with strong experience in building scalable enterprise applications.
You will be part of the Marketing Platforms team, working on the Flywheel modernization initiative, focused on improving marketing campaign execution, personalization, and data-driven customer experiences.
The role involves developing backend components that support customer offer eligibility, marketing data management, and campaign systems.
Key Responsibilities
Backend Development
- Design and develop scalable backend services using Java and Spring Boot
- Build clean and maintainable controller, service, and repository layers
- Develop secure and high-performance REST APIs
Security & Authentication
- Implement OAuth 2.0, JWT, and token lifecycle management
- Build secure authentication and authorization (AuthN/Z) mechanisms
Data & Architecture
- Design and optimize SQL-based relational schemas
- Ensure efficient data handling and backend performance
Engineering Best Practices
- Implement exception handling, validation, and logging
- Follow clean coding standards and enterprise architecture patterns
DevOps & CI/CD
- Work with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions)
- Ensure smooth deployments and version control
Collaboration
- Work closely with cross-functional teams in marketing and product
- Contribute to modernizing enterprise marketing platforms
Required Skills (Mandatory)
- Strong hands-on experience in Java Backend Development
- Expertise in Spring Boot, Spring Security, Spring Data
- Experience in REST API design and development
- Strong understanding of OAuth 2.0 and JWT authentication
- Experience with SQL and relational database design
- Knowledge of exception handling, validation, and logging frameworks
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions)
- Strong understanding of enterprise application architecture
Nice to Have
- Experience with Vertex (tax/integration platform)
- Integration testing frameworks like Playwright
- Experience with Adobe API integrations
- Exposure to AMEX platforms (Hydra, EFL, One App)
