Senior iOS Engineer (Contract)

Remote. Working hours aligned to Central European Time (13:30 to 22:30 IST).

Contract engagement, 6 to 12 months.

The client

A European consumer technology company whose iOS app is used by hundreds of millions of people worldwide, and one you have almost certainly used yourself.

The iOS team is small and sits entirely in one location. Unlike the Android codebase, where each feature area is built as a separate line, the iOS app is a single unified codebase, so you will be working across the whole application rather than one isolated feature.

What you will do

• Design, develop and maintain the iOS application
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design and ship new features
• Ensure the performance, quality and responsiveness of the app
• Debug complex technical issues and identify solutions to improve the app
• Write clean, maintainable and scalable code
• Participate in code reviews and adhere to coding standards
• Contribute to the technical design and architecture of the app
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle: planning, development, testing and deployment
• Mentor and guide other experienced engineers
• Stay current with new technologies and trends in iOS development

What you bring

• 5+ years of iOS development experience (6+ strongly preferred)
• Advanced knowledge of programming in Swift
• Deep understanding and several years of hands-on experience in Cocoa and iOS application development: architectures, design, tools and SDKs
• Hands-on experience with asynchronous server communication
• Hands-on experience with UX optimisation
• Experience in agile development
• Fluent oral and written English
• Ability to start contributing immediately. The team is at capacity and there is no onboarding runway, so you must be able to get productive in an unfamiliar codebase on your own

Great if you also have

• SwiftUI experience
• Swift async/await experience
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions and Fastlane
