Unicorn India Ventures (UIV) is one of India's top-performing early-stage deeptech venture capital firms. We have recently partnered with IIT Madras and the IIT Madras Research Park (IITMRP) to launch the IITM Unicorn Frontier Fund-I, a historic 1,000 Crore vehicle bridging academic invention with venture execution.

Important Note: While your primary operational focus will be this new fund and the IITM campus, this role is a core part of the overall Unicorn India Ventures team. You are joining the broader UIV family and will actively collaborate with our pan-India investment team, evaluate cross-fund synergies, and represent the entire UIV brand.

We are seeking a highly analytical, driven, and well-networked IIT Madras Alumnus to serve as our dedicated Investment Professional stationed directly at the IIT Madras campus.

You will act as UIV's boots on the ground and the primary commercial bridge between the IITM innovation ecosystem and our firm. This is a rare, high-impact venture capital role where you will identify breakthrough lab-bench technologies, evaluate their commercial scalability, and integrate the IITM ecosystem with UIV's broader national network.

• Actively map, track, and source high-potential deeptech startups emerging from the IITM ecosystem.
• Deeply integrate with the IITM Incubation Cell (IITMIC) to evaluate the Startup Shatam pipeline (100+ startups/year).
• Engage with Nirmaan (the pre-incubation cell) to track student and faculty teams from Day Zero, identifying high-potential IP 1218 months before formal incorporation.

• Conduct rigorous commercial due diligence, market sizing, competitive landscaping, and unit economics modelling for early-stage deeptech companies.
• Liaise with IITM faculty, subject matter experts, and lab heads to perform technical due diligence, validating underlying science and Technology Readiness Level (TRL).
• Prepare detailed, institutional-grade investment memos for the Joint Investment Committee.

• Act as the primary operational contact for IITM-based portfolio companies, helping founders with GTM strategy, hiring, and fundraising preparation.
• Assist in executing the Fund's Incubation Migration strategy by integrating external UIV portfolio startups into IITMRP infrastructure and labs.

• Serve as the official ambassador of Unicorn India Ventures at IIT Madras.
• Build relationships with IITM leadership, faculty, research park executives, and entrepreneurial communities.
• Lead community initiatives such as FoundersForge chapters, deeptech mixers, and pitch events.

• Education: B.Tech / Dual Degree from IIT Madras
• Experience: 57 years
• Skillset: Ability to analyze complex technical industries and convert deep science into commercial business models; strong stakeholder management
• Ecosystem Native: Deep familiarity with IITM ecosystem; strong networking and interpersonal skills
• Thesis Alignment: Passion for deeptech (Space, Semiconductors, AI, Defence, Robotics) and the Product Nation vision

• Phase 1 (Immersion): 2 months at UIV Mumbai office learning investment processes and culture
• Phase 2 (Deployment): Permanent role at IIT Madras / IITMRP campus in Chennai
