Job Description

Senior Instrumentation Engineer/ Instrumentation Lead (Structural Testing)

Focus: Data Acquisition Architecture, Signal Conditioning, and Sensor Physics. Mission: To manage the complete measurement chain, ensuring high-fidelity data capture using specific high-end data acquisition platforms.

Core Responsibilities:

  • DAQ Architecture & Management: Configure, deploy, and maintain high-performance Data Acquisition Systems. specifically NI (cRIO/PXI) and HBM QuantumX platforms.
  • Sensor Selection & Integration: Define sensor requirements for structural tests (strain gauges, load cells, displacement sensors, accelerometers). Oversee the integration of these sensors with the DAQ hardware to ensure compatibility and optimal resolution.
  • Signal Conditioning: Manage excitation voltages, amplification, and filtering parameters within the NI and HBM software environments to maximize signal-to-noise ratios.
  • Wiring & Noise Mitigation: Design and supervise cabling infrastructure. Implement strict grounding and shielding protocols to eliminate electromagnetic interference (EMI) and ground loops in complex test setups.
  • Calibration & Traceability: maintain calibration schedules for all NI and HBM modules and connected sensors. Perform shunt calibrations and zeroing procedures prior to testing.

Required Technical Skills: Domain Proficiency Required

Hardware Platforms Expert-level proficiency in configuration and operation of NI cRIO / PXI systems and HBM QuantumX modules.

Circuit Theory: Deep understanding of Wheatstone bridge configurations (Quarter, Half, Full), differential signaling, and analog-to-digital conversion physics.

Data Synchronization: Experience synchronizing data streams across multiple DAQ chassis and ensuring time-alignment with control system data.

Troubleshooting: Ability to diagnose signal drift, noise, and wiring faults using precision multimeters and oscilloscopes.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical mindset.
  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams.
  • Effective communication and documentation skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong execution discipline.

Educational Qualification:

  • B.E./B.Tech/M.E./M.Tech in Instrumentation, Electronics, Avionics, or related disciplines.
