This is a full-time position based in India (Bangalore preferred), working in the US (EST) time shift. We are looking for a collaborative, detail-oriented professional who brings hands-on AI fluency to their daily workflow—someone who is already using AI tools as an integral part of how they research, write, and produce instructional content, not just experimenting with them. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, remote environment and can contribute effectively across multiple concurrent client projects.

About the Role

The Senior Instructional Designer is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and delivering course development projects on time and within budget. Working within the Learning Development and Design (LD&D) organization, this role serves the needs of LearnQuest's clients across a range of projects—including platform-based course production, corporate training programs, and ongoing content maintenance. This role leads complex projects end-to-end, manages AI-assisted content workflows, and serves as a collaborative bridge between subject matter experts and the LD&D team.

Key Responsibilities

Writing & Content Development

• Apply writer/editor judgment to shape, compress, extend, and split content into appropriate Learning Units (LUs) for the target platform and audience
• Prompt and edit AI-generated content to produce precise instructional content types: problem framing, essential context, step-by-step process instruction, and skill-transfer use cases
• Distinguish high-quality instructional content from AI-generated research noise; apply Use Verbs to Instruct and other instructional writing principles rigorously
• Develop course components including use case stories, readings, discussion questions, assignments, and assessments aligned with learning objectives
• Create and review project storyboards; implement into agreed-upon modalities using current development tools
• Design content and learning solutions to optimize student learning and achieve business learning objectives

AI & Research Tools

• Run advanced AI-assisted research workflows (e.g., Perplexity Pro) to gather and vet source content
• Manage multiple files, windows, prompts, and outputs simultaneously to support high-volume, AI-assisted production pipelines
• Use AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Perplexity) to efficiently generate draft course components, then apply instructional design and learning judgment to refine and elevate quality

Video & Presentation Production

• Use video production tools (e.g., Camtasia, Audiate) to ingest expert source video, convert transcriptions into Learning Units, and edit/enhance video with supporting assets
• Edit scripts into presentation cards using tools such as Gamma; build and revise slides quickly in presentation software (e.g., PowerPoint) using templates, master slides, and custom design assets

Collaboration & Communication

• Collaborate with SMEs to gather writing, editing, and video assets; implement SME feedback into course components efficiently
• Communicate and log tasks, decisions, and solutions daily with the LD&D team; escalate challenges and blockers consistently and promptly
• Work from draft instructional content and SME-generated ID-Ready materials to ensure clarity, completeness, and alignment with course outcomes
• Contribute effectively across multiple concurrent client projects, adapting to varied subject matter, formats, and delivery platforms
• Support the sales team and internal stakeholders by contributing to learning solution scoping and client-facing project needs

Project & File Management

• Self-manage workload using project management tools (e.g., Monday.com); maintain accountability to deadlines and milestone deliverables
• Support project planning by contributing to timelines and milestone tracking across assigned projects
• Use and continuously improve file naming conventions so Learning Units are viable across multiple platforms and contexts
• Manage LMS administration including file loading, updates, and compilation of learner statistics for LearnQuest and client systems

Platform Maintenance

• Search and analyze XLSX outputs from online learning platforms to identify priority maintenance issues
• Sort maintenance issues into action buckets: resolve independently, escalate to team lead, engage SME, or escalate to the platform provider
• Ensure all published content meets academic, industry, and platform-specific standards across assigned projects

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in instructional design, eLearning development, or a related field
• Demonstrated mastery of instructional writing: ability to convert subject-matter content into clear, learner-centered instructional types (context, process, use case, assessment)
• Advanced English writing, editing, and content-shaping skills; strong command of grammar, style, and professional tone
• Demonstrated proficiency with AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Perplexity Pro) for research and content generation, with the editorial judgment to elevate output quality
• Experience with video production tools (e.g., Camtasia, Audiate) or equivalent
• Proficiency with presentation tools (e.g., PowerPoint) including template and master slide workflows; experience with Gamma or similar tools
• 1+ years of experience with LMS or online learning platforms including file management and reporting
• Strong project self-management skills; experience using project management tools (e.g., Monday.com) or similar
• Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects across varied clients and subject areas, prioritize independently, and meet strict deadlines
• Proven ability to collaborate with SMEs, synthesize technical content, and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams
• Bachelor's degree or certifications in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Communications, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience developing content for MOOC or enterprise online learning platforms
• Experience with eLearning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate 360, Articulate Rise, Adobe Captivate)
• Knowledge of SCORM, xAPI, or other eLearning standards
• Familiarity with corporate or technical training contexts
• Master's degree in a relevant field
