The Global Information Security (GIS) Team makes sure that eBay continues to be a safe virtual marketplace. The Application Security Engineering team makes sure all business processes are secured, via optimized process and automation. In collaboration with the product developers, the team hardens eBay's security through security attack reduction by driving foundational product security fixes.
What You Will Accomplish
We are looking for experienced security developers to join us in the Application Security Engineering team.
You will help develop and support innovative solutions that strengthen the secure DevOps offerings of the security application group. You will complete processes that fine-tune security rules and improve detection and mitigation efficiency. You will provide hands-on engineering support to secure DevOps and ML DevOps automations. You will collaborate with peer InfoSec teams during security incident investigations and reviews, driving the security charter across the organization. Additionally, you will help develop scalable security management tools and test suites that help securely release eBay's public facing product lines. The ideal candidate person will be a software developer with engineering experience working on Security attack surface reduction through foundational product security fixes.
What You'll Bring
- BSCS degree with 7-9 years of experience or an MS degree with 6+ years of experience
- Strong hands-on product architecture and development experience with web applications are required; experience in secure DevOps space is expected
- Strong development experience in development of user interface of web-based tools (Node.js, React JS, Angular JS)
- Strong familiarity with AI/ML, LLM concepts, implementations and their security implications; Familiarity with AI developer tools (Copilot, Claude, Cursor etc) is a major plus
- Knowledge of integration of security automation solutions with systems like GitHub and Open-Source Security solutions is a plus
- Ability to build automation tools and REST API-s for security processes and web applications on Java (with Spring MVC) and familiarity with databases (Hadoop, noSQL, Oracle, etc) is required. Knowledge of other languages like Python is a plus. Knowledge of GraphQL is a plus
- Ability to deep dive into SAST/DAST/SCA scan data (from security scanning tools like Appscan, Checkmarx, semgrep) and logs to analyze for security gaps will be a major plus
- General understanding of Security in CI/CD process and basic usage of AI tools and terminologies
- Working experience with product development teams in a continuous delivery developer role is highly desirable. The developer is expected to be comfortable delivering in short sprints in an Agile framework
- Familiarity with generation of metrics via real time dashboards and self-healing automated application monitoring. Data analytics experience would be a major plus
- Experience in performing threat modelling, security reviews, security incident troubleshooting are beneficial for the day to day work
- Good presentation skills are expected ; ability to clearly articulate and present issues to diverse audience in an effective and personable manner.
- Ability to determine risk based on context and adjust quickly to the security needs of a highly agile organization
- Highly motivated developer to pick new skills as required and apply to delivery processes
