The Senior HVAC Engineer will lead the design and engineering of HVAC systems for oil & gas and hydrocarbon projects, including offshore facilities like FPSOs and fixed platforms. The role includes developing design bases, specifications, and calculations, reviewing vendor documentation, guiding junior engineers and modellers, and ensuring project deliverables meet schedule, budget, and technical standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review heat load calculations, ventilation calculations, pressure drop calculations, duct sizing, and pipe sizing.
- Develop air flow diagrams, P&IDs, equipment and duct layouts, and piping layouts.
- Select equipment such as chillers, packaged and split systems, air handlers, pumps, fans, and cooling towers.
- Independently prepare design basis, technical specifications, datasheets, material requisitions, and bills of quantities for bulks (ducting, dampers, registers, and other accessories).
- Conduct technical bid evaluations for HVAC systems, including equipment and accessories.
- Review post-order contractor/supplier documents.
- Provide guidance for HVAC modellers in modelling tasks; knowledge of E3D, S3D, and Navisworks is desirable.
- Apply sustainable engineering practices, considering CAPEX and OPEX.
- Participate in project progress and coordination meetings.
- Coordinate with vendors, clients, and other departments for design interfaces.
- Prepare technical proposals and reports.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills:
- 1220 years of hands-on experience in concept and detailed design of HVAC systems, preferably in oil & gas and hydrocarbon sectors.
- Ability to lead a team of design engineers and modellers to deliver projects within schedule and budget.
- Strong self-starter, pragmatic, and motivated.
- Ability to communicate at all organizational levels and translate technical information into business context.
- Independent decision-making and accountability for project requirements.
- Proficiency in design software like Carrier HAP, Trane Trace; knowledge of E3D, S3D, and Navisworks is desirable.
