Role Overview
The Senior Manager Human Resources will be the primary HR owner for iKure, responsible for end-to-end HR leadership across hiring, people operations, performance management, compliance, employee relations, and HR systems. This is a hands-on leadership role, not a policy-only or advisory position. The role requires strong judgment, execution capability, and comfort working closely with founders, senior leaders, and field teams during a critical phase of organizational growth.
Key Responsibilities
HR Leadership & Governance: Own end-to-end HR function for the organization, ensuring clarity, consistency, and fairness. Act as the primary escalation point for HR matters including performance issues, exits, conflicts, and grievances. Establish clear HR decision-making frameworks aligned with organizational values and legal requirements. Partner closely with the founder and leadership team on people strategy and organizational structure.
Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning: Own hiring strategy and execution across roles including field, operations, technology, research, and leadership positions. Ensure timely hiring aligned with program and growth requirements. Strengthen interview processes, screening frameworks, and hiring discipline. Work closely with functional heads to define JDs, role expectations, and onboarding plans.
Performance Management & Employee Lifecycle: Design and run performance management systems including goal setting, reviews, and feedback cycles. Manage employee lifecycle processes including onboarding, confirmation, role changes, exits, and final settlements. Handle exits professionally and lawfully, minimizing escalation and organizational risk. Ensure consistent documentation and communication across all employee actions.
HR Operations, Policies & Compliance: Ensure strong HR hygiene across attendance, leave, payroll coordination, contracts, and documentation. Review, strengthen, and implement HR policies aligned with Indian labor laws and best practices. Ensure statutory compliance including PF, ESI, gratuity, and labor laws in coordination with finance and external vendors. Support audits, partner due diligence, and compliance reviews related to HR.
Employee Relations & Culture: Actively manage employee relations including grievance handling, conflict resolution, and sensitive conversations. Build trust with teams across levels including field staff and senior leaders. Support managers in handling people issues with empathy and firmness. Reinforce a culture of accountability, respect, and performance.
Team Development & HR Capability Building: Mentor and develop junior HR team members. Clearly define roles, responsibilities, and accountability within the HR team. Create simple SOPs, trackers, and systems to reduce dependency on individuals. Ensure continuity and stability even during transitions or absences.
Desired Profile
Qualifications & Experience: Graduate or Postgraduate in HR, Management, Social Sciences, or a related field. 812+ years of progressive experience in HR roles with ownership of core HR functions. Proven experience handling hiring and scaling teams, employee exits and conflict resolution, HR compliance and audits, and founder and leadership-level interactions.
Key Skills & Competencies: Strong judgment and decision-making ability. High ownership and accountability. Calm handling of sensitive and escalated situations. Strong understanding of Indian labor laws and HR compliance. Ability to balance empathy with organizational discipline. Clear communication with employees and leadership.
Good to Have: Experience in healthcare, social impact, NGOs, or field-heavy organizations. Experience working in growing or founder-led organizations. Comfort working in environments that are evolving, not fully structured.
Work Nature: Office-based in Kolkata with interaction across multiple locations. Hands-on, execution-focused HR leadership role. High visibility and close interaction with leadership.
