What this job involves:
We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Horticulture Executive to oversee the comprehensive management of all landscaping and horticultural operations across our facilities. The ideal candidate will ensure the health, aesthetic appeal, and sustainability of all green spaces while maintaining high standards of horticultural excellence and environmental stewardship.
Key Responsibilities
Horticultural Operations Management
- Plan, implement, and maintain indoor and outdoor landscaping programs to ensure optimal plant health and visual appeal
- Manage seasonal planting schedules, including selection of plant species suitable for local climate and facility requirements
- Oversee irrigation systems, ensuring efficient water management and plant hydration
- Monitor plant health, diagnose diseases and pest infestations, and implement treatment programs
- Maintain garden beds, lawns, shrubs, trees, and ornamental plants across all facility areas
Operations & Administration
- Person should be willing to work in shifts
- Manage work order systems for horticultural requests including ticket creation, assignment, tracking, and closure
- Coordinate shift schedules for gardening and landscaping staff to ensure consistent maintenance coverage
- Maintain accurate documentation of planting schedules, maintenance activities, and plant inventory
- Generate regular reports on horticultural performance metrics, plant health status, and service delivery
Vendor & Stakeholder Management
- Manage relationships with external landscaping contractors, nurseries, and horticultural suppliers
- Monitor service level agreements (SLAs) and ensure vendor compliance with horticultural standards
- Conduct vendor performance evaluations and implement corrective actions when needed
- Serve as primary point of contact between facility users and horticultural service providers
- Coordinate with facilities team on integrated landscape and building maintenance activities
Compliance & Sustainability
- Ensure adherence to environmental regulations and sustainable horticultural practices
- Implement integrated pest management (IPM) programs to minimize chemical usage
- Promote water conservation through efficient irrigation practices and drought-resistant landscaping
- Maintain compliance with local environmental and horticultural regulations
- Develop and maintain emergency response procedures for storm damage and horticultural emergencies
Planning & Innovation
- Develop annual horticultural plans aligned with facility aesthetics and budget requirements
- Research and recommend new plant varieties and sustainable landscaping techniques
- Plan and execute seasonal displays and special horticultural projects
- Manage horticultural budgets and optimize resource allocation
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Horticulture, Agriculture, Landscape Management, Botany, or related field
- 4-6 years of experience in commercial horticulture, landscape management, or related operations role
- Prior experience in vendor management and contract administration
- Prior experience in managing landscaping operations for large facilities of minimum 500,000 SQFT
Technical Skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Strong knowledge of plant species, growing conditions, and horticultural best practices
- Experience with irrigation system management and maintenance
- Knowledge of integrated pest management (IPM) techniques
- Familiarity with landscape design principles and horticultural software systems preferred
- Excellent email and written communication skills
