We're Hiring | Senior Hazard Software Engineer / Senior Scientific Programmer

Location: Bangalore

Are you a scientific programmer or seismic/earthquake engineering professional who enjoys solving complex numerical problems and modernizing legacy code

We're looking for a Senior Hazard Software Engineer / Senior Scientific Programmer to help transform a legacy FORTRAN-based earthquake hazard engine into clean, modular, high-performance Python.

What you'll work on:

• Translate complex FORTRAN numerical routines into Python

• Build scientific computing solutions using Python, NumPy & SciPy

• Ensure numerical equivalence between legacy and modern implementations

• Work with seismologists and domain experts on probabilistic hazard models

• Optimize large-scale simulations, memory usage and performance

• Build regression tests and ensure numerical correctness

• Work with Git, CI/CD, code reviews and modern engineering practices

We're looking for:

• PhD in Earthquake Engineering, Seismology, Structural Engineering (seismic hazard) or a closely related field

• Strong Python + NumPy/SciPy skills

• Hands-on experience with FORTRAN code and numerical models

• Experience with probabilistic numerical modelling / simulations

• Strong understanding of testing, Git and software engineering practices

• Experience with PSHA, earthquake risk modelling or seismic hazard is a plus
