Sr. Hardware Engineer I (Band 9)

What you'll do: The position is for a Hardware Development Engineer in the Lenovo Infrastructure Solutions Group (ISG), based in Bangalore, Karnataka. This is an exciting role in the ThinkSystem Server Development organization that has a strong focus to be the #1 trusted IT Partner in the Datacenter market. The hardware development engineer will be an integral member of a team responsible for developing innovative and complex server designs to meet customer and business needs. These organic designs provide exposure to the latest technologies from Lenovo and its development partners to meet market demands. The role also entails solving unique client challenges through the custom development of solutions.

Required Skills

• Bachelor's Degree in Electronics/Computer Engineering.
• 10+ years of in-depth experience in x86 architecture and hardware design. Server design experience is strongly preferred.
• Knowledge and design experience of DDR, PCIe, USB, Ethernet, SPI, I2C along with High-speed PCB design and signal integrity will be an essential requirement.
• Experience in EDA schematic design tools for PCB schematic creation, supporting physical/Layout design activity, hardware bring-up and validation will be required.
• Responsible for translating business/customer requirements into platform architecture encompassing hardware, software, SoCs, and other components designed to support a variety of systems, solutions, and applications.
• Design, develop, and analyze overall platform architecture and partitioning between hardware and software to meet use cases and workloads in terms of performance, scalability, manageability, reliability, and security requirements
• Leads architectural governance and decisions related to product technology and platform tradeoffs as part of a cross-functional architecture decision group.
• Influences the shaping of future products/solutions by significantly contributing to the architecture and technology employed throughout the compute continuum
• Ability to triage and resolve complex hardware issues, working seamlessly with other engineers on problem investigation.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills for a variety of tasks, potentially including customer engagements, architecture design/feedback, and executive updates.

Preferred Skills

• Master's Degree
• Previous experience in FPGA code development and validation, DC Power circuit design, and/or PCIe bus design, simulation, and validation.
• Proficiency in Linux/Windows Operating systems. Experience with OS virtualization.
• Strong proficiency in shell scripting (BASH/Perl/Python and Windows Power Shell)
• Demonstrated successful hardware design execution on a project with engineering team members located in multiple geographies.
• Business acumen to engage with various functional teams required to take projects from concept to production.
