Senior Graphic Designer

Contraband is Birla Cosmetics debut luxury fragrance and grooming brand conceived to challenge conventions and redefine what modern Indian luxury looks and feels like. Born under the visionary leadership of Ananya Birla (Founder), Contraband occupies the intersection of bold creative identity and world-class product quality. As part of a rapidly expanding beauty conglomerate that also houses LOVETC, Contraband is building its visual language from the ground up and this role sits at the heart of that mission.

The Role

We are looking for a Senior Graphic Designer who is as fluent in brand storytelling as they are in Illustrator layers and typographic hierarchy. You will be the creative force shaping Contraband's visual identity from campaign art direction to packaging, digital content to retail environments.

This is not a production role. This is a strategic creative seat. You will be expected to bring ideas, push boundaries, and champion visual excellence at every touchpoint while working closely with brand, marketing, and leadership to grow a category-defining luxury brand.

What You'll Do

Own the visual output across Contraband's brand touchpoints with particular emphasis on retail environments, in-store displays, packaging, POS materials, and offline brand activations.

Conceptualise and execute high-impact retail design solutions: shop-in-shop fixtures, gondola branding, counter displays, window dressings, in-store signage, and trade marketing collateral.

Lead design for brand communication across offline channels OOH, print campaigns, brand lookbooks, press kits, gifting packaging, and premium print collateral.

Drive concept-to-execution on campaign creatives across both offline and digital mediums, bringing strong art direction sensibility and an instinct for what makes luxury brands feel distinct.

Develop and evolve the Contraband design system ensuring a coherent, premium visual identity is maintained rigorously across every physical and digital touchpoint.

Partner with the marketing and brand team to translate briefs into visually arresting design solutions that resonate with India's aspirational luxury consumer.

Liaise with print vendors, fabricators, and production houses owning the quality of output from file preparation through to final delivery.

Maintain meticulous standards in typography, layout, colour, and composition ensuring every asset reflects the brand's positioning as a challenger luxury label.

Manage multiple live projects simultaneously with clear prioritisation and on-time delivery.

Mentor junior designers where applicable, helping build creative standards across the team.

Skills & Tools

Advanced proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator your primary creative environment.

Deep expertise in print production: understanding of substrates, finishes, colour profiles (CMYK/Pantone), and vendor briefing for retail and packaging outputs.

Exceptional layout, typographic, and compositional command particularly for premium print collateral, packaging, and retail branding.

Strong grounding in colour theory, visual balance, and luxury brand aesthetics.

Ability to interpret strategic briefs and translate them into high-impact, campaign-ready visuals across offline and digital formats.

Working knowledge of retail design principles planograms, fixture branding, and in-store experience design.

Basic familiarity with 3D visualisation tools is an advantage for packaging mock-ups and retail concept presentation.

Familiarity with motion graphics tools (After Effects, Figma) is a plus.

Experience & Qualifications

810 years of professional graphic design experience, with significant and demonstrable depth in retail design, offline branding, and print production ideally within beauty, cosmetics, luxury, or lifestyle brands.

A portfolio that leads with retail and offline work: in-store environments, packaging, POS, print campaigns, and brand activations. Digital fluency is expected; offline mastery is essential.

Proven experience collaborating with fabricators, print vendors, and retail fit-out partners to deliver premium physical brand experiences.

Degree or diploma in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or a related discipline.

Comfortable in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment where strong creative instincts and attention to craft must coexist with agility.
