Senior Engineer Global Infrastructure: Become the Newest Member of the VF Family
The Senior Global Infrastructure Engineer is vital to the success of not only the Global Infrastructure and Service Delivery team, but the entire DT organization. In this role, you will be looked upon as a technical leader and subject matter expert across most technologies within the global VF infrastructure. You will be responsible for ensuring infrastructure is designed and implemented to serve the VF business efficiently and effectively. You will work with project teams to understand requirements, be responsible for architecting technical solutions, work with finance to secure funding, and provide oversight to members of the team as well as our outsourcing partners. The Senior Engineer is the escalation point for members of the Global Infrastructure and Service Delivery team as well as outsourcing partners.
This position allows for independent judgment and decision-making empowering your freedom to explore new technologies and enabling you to procure and implement those technologies into the environment. To be successful in this role, you must possess a high level of technical knowledge in many infrastructure technologies including VMware, Cisco UCS, Cisco MDS, NetApp, IBM Storage, IBM Power hardware, Lenovo servers, Linux (SUSE & Redhat), Windows Server, SQL Server, and Enterprise backup solution (Spectrum Protect and Cobalt Iron). Along with technical skills this position requires excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical co-workers. This position includes financial planning and working with VF financial/procurement teams to ensure appropriate capital funding is forecasted and allocated to cover any hardware, maintenance or service work required for the upcoming year. In this role you will also be responsible for oversight of disaster recovery testing procedures ensuring VF has a reliable and repeatable process by testing annually within each geographic region.
The ideal candidate will act as a thought leader capable of communicating clearly and comfortably within the global infrastructure and operations team as well as other technical and non-technical teams.
This role will be at the forefront as we work to continuously improve efficiency, stability, and user experience. A successful candidate for this position must possess both a deep and wide background in all digital technologies. The chosen candidate will be a leader in support of a modern digital platform enabling our business by providing initiative, drive, and dedication. You will be responsible for ensuring governance, stability and enhancements are maintained and improved within the environment.

As VF transitions into more of a hybrid cloud model you will be expected to have knowledge of cloud practices and automation technologies enabling you to work hand in hand with VF's cloud engineering team.
How You Will Make a Difference:
You will be the escalation point for Global Infrastructure and Service Delivery as well as our outsourcing partners You will provide technical leadership and guidance to other members of your team as well as other teams within VF Review, forecast and secure annual capital budget globally Ensure appropriate hardware/software maintenance is maintained Work with outsourcing partners to keep all operating system software current and up to date Provide technical oversight to Global Infrastructure and Service Delivery team Work with security team to ensure security standards are implemented and adhered to Work with business stakeholders to ensure business requirements drive technology decisions Develop and implement disaster recovery procedures to ensure business continuity with annual testing Design, implement and enforce operational standards Recommend and implement emerging technologies and enhancements Monitor host server utilization and performance, apply tuning and maintenance for optimal performance Provides escalation point and next level support to lower-level team members Responsible for working with technical and non-technical team members to drive business efficiencies Work closely with project teams to design complex solutions and be held accountable for meeting tight deadlines Responsible for capacity planning, trending, right sizing, licensing, etc. You will work in a diverse globally outsourced environment, providing leadership and guidance to that team Embrace and understand cloud technologies and work closely with VF's cloud teams to provide an efficient hybrid cloud solution
Working on the Global Operations team:
- Must be available 24/7 as escalation point for operational teams

Years of Related Professional Experience: Minimum of 7+ years
Educational/ Position Requirements:
- Experience working in large global enterprise environment
- Knowledge with the following technologies: VMware, Cisco MDS/UCS, IBM Storage hardware, NetApp storage arrays, enterprise backup/recovery software (Spectrum Protect/Cobalt Iron), IBM Power hardware, Windows, Linux and AIX operating systems
- Experience with automation tools preferred
- Experience with different cloud environments and concepts
- Financial budgeting and planning experience
- Experience and knowledge of disaster recovery concepts and procedures
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, IT Engineering, or equivalent work experience
- Ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure and time constraints
- Demonstrated critical thinking and analytical skills
- Must be a self-starter, able to work independently with a proactive working style
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
