Job Overview
The Senior GIS Engineer position at Jio is a full-time, mid-level opportunity based in Mumbai. This role requires a minimum of 4 years of professional experience in Geographic Information Systems, with a focus on advanced geospatial platforms and solutions. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in industry-standard GIS tools, spatial data management, and digital mapping to support and enhance Jios rapidly growing technology ecosystems.
Experience (Yrs) : 4 to 7 years
Education: BE, B. Tech, M. Sc, MA, M. Tech in Geology, Geography, Civil, Remote sensing, GIS, Geoinformatics
Software Skill: AutoCAD*, ArcGIS, ArcGIS pro, Arc Scene, MS-Office
Qualifications and Skills
- Proficiency in ArcGIS and ArcGIS Pro (Mandatory skill), with the ability to execute complex geospatial analyses and manage enterprise GIS projects from inception to delivery.
- Strong skills in AutoCAD, enabling integration of CAD data with spatial databases and creation of high-precision geospatial representations.
- Solid experience in geospatial data modeling, including design, implementation, and maintenance of spatial databases to ensure data quality and usability.
- Competency in Python, with proven ability to automate GIS workflows, conduct spatial analysis, and develop customized GIS tools and scripts.
- Advanced knowledge of MS-Office applications, effectively managing reports, documentation, and presentations related to geospatial projects.
- Expertise with topological GIS principles, ensuring data integrity, network connectivity, and consistency in complex spatial datasets and analyses.
- Hands-on experience with GeoServer and similar open-source geospatial platforms to publish, manage, and distribute large geospatial data sets and services.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional technical teams and communicate complex GIS concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address spatial data challenges and deliver actionable insights to support diverse business needs.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain advanced GIS datasets, maps, and spatial solutions aligned with Jios digital platforms and telecom networks.
- Perform comprehensive spatial analysis to support strategic decision-making for network expansion, optimization, and customer solutions.
- Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to understand spatial data requirements and deliver robust, scalable GIS solutions.
- Automate geospatial workflows and create custom scripts and tools using Python to streamline data processing and visualization tasks.
- Integrate GIS data with AutoCAD and other CAD-based systems for detailed planning and asset management.
- Ensure topological accuracy and quality control for all spatial data and resolve discrepancies to uphold data reliability.
- Deploy and manage geospatial services on GeoServer, enabling seamless sharing and consumption of spatial information across platforms.
- Document workflows, maintain up-to-date metadata, and prepare technical reports and presentations for project stakeholders.
