We are seeking a highly skilled FPGA/SDR Communications Engineer to architect and implement a high-performance communication systems for UAVs in defense.The role involves developing the complete PHY and portions of the MAC layer on FPGAs delivering robust, low-latency, anti-jam communication links capable of operating in contested RF environments. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience developing FPGA-based digital communication systems and be comfortable implementing complex DSP algorithms in RTL while integrating embedded software on ARM processors.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement complete COFDM transmit and receive chains.
- Develop configurable PHY supporting multiple bandwidths and modulation schemes.
- Implement adaptive modulation and coding (AMC).
- Optimize latency and throughput for real-time communication.
- Implement 4×4 MIMO architectures.
- Develop spatial multiplexing and diversity techniques.
- Implement MIMO channel estimation.
- Implement FPGA IPs for OFDM Baseband
- Develop software running on ARM Cortex-A53/R5
- Experience integrating with RF transceivers from Analog Devices, TI, etc
- Strong DSP understanding covering Digital communications, Linear algebra , Probability, Detection theory, Estimation theory, Random processes.
Required Skills
- Strong RTL design experience.
- Excellent understanding of digital communication systems.
- Experience implementing SDR architectures on FPGA.
- Experience with high-speed DSP pipelines.
- Ability to debug using Integrated Logic Analyzer (ILA).
- Experience with AXI infrastructure.
- Familiarity with DDR interfaces and DMA engines.
- Strong debugging skills using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and spectrum analyzers.
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics, Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with military, aerospace, or UAV communication systems.
- Familiarity with FPGA-based SDR platforms and high-speed serial interfaces.
- Understanding of secure communications, encryption integration, and deterministic real-time systems is desirable.
