About the Product
Nova is a next-generation dating app designed to create meaningful, respectful, and emotionally intelligent connections. It moves away from superficial swiping culture and focuses on authenticity, emotional safety, and thoughtful interaction.
The platform integrates behavioral intelligence into conversations — helping users communicate with clarity, respect, and awareness. From reducing ghosting to encouraging genuine engagement, Nova is built to make dating feel less stressful and more human.
The mobile app is already built in Flutter and is close to release, with approximately 90% of the core work completed. The base is strong, and the current focus is on refinement, stability, and scaling for real users
Scope of Work
You will take ownership of the existing Flutter codebase and lead the app into a production-ready, scalable dating platform. Responsibilities include:
- Reviewing and strengthening current mobile architecture
- Improving performance, responsiveness, and reliability under real user load
- Refining core dating flows such as onboarding, matching, chat, and engagement features
- Handling edge cases around user behavior, drop-offs, and interaction friction
- Preparing the app for production deployment and scale
- Collaborating closely with backend and AI systems powering matchmaking and conversation intelligence
- Defining mobile best practices and release processes
- Supporting development and stabilization of the iOS version alongside Android
This is a product ownership role where your technical decisions will directly shape user experience and retention.
Milestone-Based Engagement
Payments and deliverables will be structured across mutually agreed milestones. Indicative milestone buckets include:
- Codebase Audit and Stabilization
- Deep review of the current app, identifying gaps in performance, architecture, and scalability
- Core Experience Refinement
- Improving onboarding, matching logic flows, chat experience, and emotional interaction cues
- Performance and Scalability Optimization
- Ensuring the app handles real-world usage patterns smoothly
- Production Readiness and Release Setup
- Final testing, bug fixing, deployment pipelines, and launch readiness
- iOS Version Completion
- Delivering a stable and consistent experience across iOS devices
- Post-Launch Iteration and Stability
- Supporting early users, fixing issues, and refining based on real feedback
Engagement Expectations
- Immediate availability to start
- Responsiveness when support or decisions are required
- Ability to operate in a fast-moving, evolving startup environment
- Close collaboration with founder, backend, and AI teams
- Willingness to be present in Hyderabad when needed for key discussions
Candidate Profile
- 5–6+ years of mobile development experience
- Strong expertise in Flutter and production-grade app delivery
- Experience building or scaling consumer-facing apps (dating or social is a strong plus)
- Solid understanding of mobile architecture, performance, and state management
- Comfortable working with backend APIs and intelligent systems
- Strong product thinking — especially around user behavior, engagement, and retention
- Startup experience preferred
