About Company:
At Uravu, we are a sustainability-focused company based in Bengaluru. Our mission is to imagine new ways to make human life more sustainable and our communities responsive and resilient. We have developed a patent-pending and award-winning 100% renewable water technology that utilizes inexhaustible atmospheric moisture and only renewable energy to produce high-quality drinking water. Our solution is scalable and can serve industries and communities with their high-quality water needs in a decentralized and carbon neutral manner. We are on a quest to completely rethink how we experience water.
How we started:
Founded in 2019, Uravu Labs was born out of a shared vision to address water scarcity issues, particularly inspired by the Founders own experiences in the NIT Calicut campus during their undergrad. Driven by a passion for innovation and sustainability, Uravu Labs embarked on a mission to develop cutting-edge solutions that could extract water from the air using renewable energy sources. The company's journey began with the realization that existing methods, such as conventional atmospheric water generators, were not entirely sustainable due to their heavy reliance on electricity and the use of refrigerants with high global warming potential. Determined to make a difference, the Founders set out to create a solution that would be truly renewable and sustainable. Their dedication led them to explore alternative approaches, resulting in the development of groundbreaking technology that utilises liquid desiccants to produce highest quality and affordable water from the air.
The initial success culminated in 2018 when Uravu Labs was recognized as one of the top five global finalists in the prestigious Water Abundance XPRIZE competition. This achievement served as a testament to the company's innovative approach and potential impact. From there, the idea gained significant momentum, propelling Uravu Labs forward on its mission to revolutionize water sustainability.
Today, Uravu Labs stands at the forefront of innovation in the field of water sustainability, offering cutting-edge solutions that not only address the immediate challenges of water scarcity but also contribute to a more sustainable future for generations to come.
Why this role:
We are building deep-tech water infrastructure, not just gadgets. Our systems combine complex thermal thermodynamics with industrial reliability. We are looking for a Senior Engineer to build our Software Moatbridging the gap between advanced physics models (MATLAB/Simulink) and robust industrial hardware (Linux-based PLCs/Gateways).
You will be the architect of the system's Brain, designing the high-level control firmware that allows our machines to surf the thermal waves of data centers and industrial plants efficiently.
What you'll do
- Architect the Brain: Design and implement the high-level control software on Linux-based Industrial Controllers (e.g., Phoenix Contact PLCnext, Beckhoff, or Industrial Gateways).
- Bridge Physics & Hardware: Collaborate with thermal engineers to take MATLAB/Simulink algorithms, wrap the generated C/C++ code, and deploy it reliably on the target hardware.
- Industrial Connectivity: Build robust communication pipelines (Modbus TCP, OPC UA, MQTT) to interface the Brain with the Hands (PLCs, VFDs, Sensors) and the Cloud.
- Fleet Management: Design and implement Over-the-Air (OTA) update pipelines and security features (TPM, disk encryption) to manage and protect our code across a distributed fleet of machines.
- System Reliability: Ensure the high-level control logic fails safely, handles restarts gracefully, and logs critical telemetry for predictive maintenance.
What we're looking for
- Strong C/C++ Skills: Ability to write clean, production-grade application code in a Linux/RTOS environment.
- Embedded Linux Proficiency: Hands-on experience with Industrial Linux (Yocto, Debian), Shell scripting, and managing system services (system).
- Industrial Protocol Knowledge: You know that in a noisy plant, Modbus TCP, Profinet, and OPC UA matter more than I2C/SPI. You understand latency and reliability in networked control systems.
- Model Integration Interest: You aren't afraid of integrating black box algorithms generated from MATLAB/Simulink into your main application loop.
- Hardware Pragmatism: You prefer using robust off-the-shelf industrial gateways (RevPi, Moxa, PLCnext) over designing custom PCBs from scratch when appropriate.
Nice to have
- Experience with MATLAB/Simulink Coder workflows.
- Familiarity with Phoenix Contact PLCnext, Beckhoff TwinCAT, or Codesys.
- Experience with Containerization (Docker) on edge devices.
- Knowledge of cyber-security best practices for industrial IoT (Edge encryption, secure boot).
Who will thrive here
- Engineers who want to move beyond simple if/then logic to implementing Model-Based Control (MPC).
- Builders who enjoy the challenge of making complex R&D algorithms run reliably 24/7 in the real world.
- People who ask why the control loop is oscillating, not just how to damp it.
- People who take complete ownership and love to work in a fast-paced environment
Benefits:
- Ample Growth Opportunities: From day one, you will have the chance to dive headfirst into projects that stretch your skills and push you to expand your knowledge base. Your contributions will not go unnoticed here. We are committed to recognizing and rewarding talent, and that means providing avenues for career progression as our company scales.
- Work with Leaders: Our Founders are deeply invested in the success of every team member and are always open to support, mentor, coach, and provide guidance to help you reach your full potential.
- Ownership and Impact: Here, you are not just another cog in the machineyou are a vital part of our success story. Here, you will have the chance to take ownership of projects, make decisions that matter, and see the results of your efforts in real-time.
- Health Insurance: At Uravu, we prioritize the well-being of our employees, and that is why we offer comprehensive health insurance coverage as a core benefit.
- On-Site Meal Perks: We believe that small gestures can make a significant difference in employee morale and engagement. Our one-time meal benefit is just one of the ways we support our team members and foster a collaborative environment with the belief that The team who eats together, works together
