Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Finance Applications Analyst (Workday) to support finance systems, ensure data reliability, and drive continuous improvements across enterprise finance platforms such as Workday, FIS, and Bloomberg.
This role acts as the first point of contact for finance system issues and plays a critical role in ensuring smooth execution of month-end and quarter-end close cycles. The ideal candidate will combine strong functional finance knowledge with technical expertise in finance applications, ensuring system stability, data accuracy, and process efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
• Application Support & Incident Management
- Act as the primary point of contact for finance system issues, especially within Workday Financials.
- Triage, troubleshoot, and resolve incidents with clear communication and documentation.
- Manage tickets through closure using tools like ServiceNow, Jira, or equivalent.
- Finance Process Support
- Monitor and support critical finance processes such as month-end close, reporting refreshes, and system feeds.
- Ensure timely execution of finance operations aligned with strict deadlines.
- Minimize disruptions to financial cycles through proactive system monitoring.
- User Access & Security Management
- Administer user roles, access controls, and security configurations in Workday.
- Partner with IT and Security teams to ensure compliance with access governance.
- Maintain audit-ready documentation and evidence for controls.
- Data Management & Governance
- Maintain finance master data including cost centers, hierarchies, and reference data.
- Coordinate governance changes with finance leadership and stakeholders.
- Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and consistency across systems.
- Reconciliation & Issue Resolution
- Perform reconciliations and investigate discrepancies in financial data and integrations.
- Conduct root-cause analysis and implement preventive fixes.
- Develop runbooks and documentation for recurring issues.
- Enhancements & Change Management
- Gather business requirements and deliver system enhancements end-to-end.
- Support UAT, release management, and user training.
- Coordinate with internal teams and vendors for system upgrades, patches, and releases.
- Ensure adherence to change management and control processes.
- Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work closely with Finance, FP&A, IT, and external vendors.
- Translate technical issues into business impact and actionable insights.
- Provide regular updates on system performance and improvements.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Information Systems, or related field.
- 5-8 years of experience supporting finance applications or finance operations with strong systems exposure.
Strong expertise in:
- Workday Financials (hands-on experience mandatory)
- Finance processes (month-end close, FP&A reporting)
- Incident management and system troubleshooting
- Strong analytical skills including reconciliations, data lineage, and root-cause analysis.
- Experience with ticketing tools (ServiceNow, Jira, etc.).
- Advanced Excel skills: SQL knowledge is a plus.
- Strong communication skills to bridge technical and business stakeholders.
Nice to Have Skills
- Experience with FIS, Bloomberg, or treasury systems.
- Exposure to integrations between ERP, treasury, and market data toolsintegrations and financial data flows.
- Experience working in SOX-compliant or audit-driven environments.
- Relevant certifications in Workday, Treasury systems, or Bloomberg certifications or finance systems.
