Job Description

The Senior Field Service Engineer (FSE) is a critical customer-facing role responsible for delivering expert-level technical support to customers in the SMT and Semiconductor industries across Singapore and the Asia region. The role supports the product portfolio, with a strong emphasis on software installation, system setup, commissioning, and advanced troubleshooting. In addition to technical excellence, the role requires commercial awareness, enabling the engineer to identify and articulate opportunities for software upgrades, options, and service offerings that create customer value. This position operates with high autonomy and represents the Company at a senior technical level in front of customers.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide expert-level on-site and remote support to customers in SMT and Semiconductor manufacturing environments

  • Perform installation, software setup, configuration, and commissioning of systems

  • Execute preventive and corrective maintenance, system upgrades, and equipment relocations

  • Diagnose and resolve complex software, hardware, and process-related issues to minimise production downtime

  • Act as a senior escalation point for complex or non-standard field issues

  • Independently install, configure, and validate software in customer production environments

  • Support customers during ramp-up and stabilisation phases following installation or upgrades

  • Identify opportunities for software upgrades, system options, and service offerings during field activities

  • Provide primary support for Singapore-based customers and regional support across Asia with flexibility for short-notice travel

  • Work closely with Sales, Applications, Product Support, and R&D teams to resolve issues and improve products and processes

About you

  • Degree or Diploma in Engineering (Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, Mechanical, or related discipline), or equivalent practical experience

  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in field service or technical support within the SMT and/or Semiconductor industry

  • Strong hands-on experience in SMT assembly, with inspection background (e.g. SPI, AOI, AXI) highly desirable

  • Proven experience independently handling complex customer situations and system installations

  • Strong software capability, including system setup, configuration, and troubleshooting

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

  • High level of autonomy, accountability, and customer focus

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Fluent in English (mandatory)

  • Chinese language capability preferred to support regional customer interactions
