Job title: Senior Fabric Merchandiser

Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced Sr Fabric Merchandiser to manage the sourcing and QC check for our Fast fashion D2C brand. As a brand we design and source fabric for garment production. The ideal candidate should have good fabric and fabric vendor knowledge for female western wear, vendor management skills, a keen eye for fabric quality, and the ability to coordinate with internal teams to meet business needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Fabric Procurement & Order Management: Source and place orders for all type of poly knitted(80%) and woven fabrics(20%) - check our website www.oyela.in for more information on fabrics and styles
- Vendor Management & Negotiation: Find and Coordinate with suppliers in Tirupur and Surat, negotiate pricing and credit period, and ensure timely fabric deliveries
- Fabric Quality Control: Conduct in-house fabric quality, shrinkage, color bleeding checks to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Inventory & Tracking: Maintain records of fabric quantities in-house, dispatched, and in transit and Fabric Avg for different designs
- R&D for Cost & Quality Optimization: Research and implement cost-effective sourcing strategies while improving fabric quality, find alternate fabrics to reduce supply chain risk
- Compliance & Documentation: Ensure proper documentation of orders, quality checks, and vendor agreements.
Qualifications & Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in fabric buying for export houses
- Strong contacts of fabric vendor in Surat, Tirupur like markets to ensure timely deliveries, credit period and quality
- Strong knowledge of fabric types, construction, and finishes and manufacturing processes
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Preferably having work experience in export house or for a domestic brand where decision needs to be made in dynamic scenarios.
