Role Overview
We are seeking a
Senior Executive – Plant Supply & Value Engineering to manage end-to-end procurement, material planning, and cost optimization for a plastic and metal components manufacturing and assembly unit.
The role focuses on ensuring uninterrupted plant operations, driving
value engineering initiatives, sourcing raw materials, metal parts, consumables, and project-related items while maintaining cost efficiency, quality, and strong vendor relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Procurement of Raw Materials & Components
Procure plastics (PP, ABS, HDPE, masterbatches, additives) and metal components (fasteners, fabricated/machined parts, springs, tubes, stamped components).
Source bought-out components and assembly materials required for baby products.
Ensure timely availability to meet production schedules and prevent downtime.
- Consumables & Indirect Materials
Procure plant consumables, MRO items, tools, safety materials, and indirect supplies.
Source primary and secondary packaging materials.
Monitor market rates and negotiate best terms with suppliers.
- Vendor Development & Performance Management
Identify, evaluate, and onboard suppliers for plastics, metals, and consumables.
Track vendor performance metrics: Quality, Delivery, Cost, Compliance.
Negotiate contracts, MOQs, and payment terms.
Implement alternate sourcing strategies to reduce supply risk.
- Inventory & Production Planning
Coordinate with Production and PPC teams for MRP-based procurement.
Maintain optimal inventory levels and monitor stock movement.
Reduce excess/obsolete inventory while ensuring uninterrupted supply.
Ensure accurate documentation of POs, GRNs, and supplier records.
- Greenfield Projects & CapEx Procurement
Support plant setup and expansion projects.
Source machinery, molds, dies, fixtures, utilities, and infrastructure materials.
Assist in commercial negotiations and comparative analysis for project procurement.
Coordinate with Engineering and Project teams for timely execution.
- Value Engineering & Cost Optimization
Drive cost-saving initiatives through material optimization, alternate sourcing, and design improvements.
Collaborate with Engineering and Product teams for product cost optimization.
Prepare procurement MIS and maintain cost-control reports.
Ensure adherence to procurement SOPs and internal audit requirements.
Required Skills & Qualifications
5+ years experience in manufacturing procurement/supply chain, preferably plastics & metals.
Strong knowledge of plastic materials, metal fabrication, and assembly operations.
Exposure to CapEx procurement and project sourcing is preferred.
Excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
ERP proficiency (SAP / Oracle / Tally or similar).
Advanced Excel skills for reporting, costing, and analysis.
