Role summary
The Senior Executive Finance and Accounting will support day-to-day finance operations and contribute to financial planning. This hands-on individual contributor role focuses on transactional execution, financial reporting, statutory compliance, cash management, project accounting for IT/ITES services and products, and clear cross-functional communication. The position emphasizes execution, accurate financial information, and timely stakeholder coordination.
Key responsibilities
- Budgeting and Forecasting
- Support the annual budgeting cycle and quarterly forecasts; perform variance analysis and scenario modelling and present findings to leadership.
- Cash Flow and Treasury
- Maintain a rolling 90-day cash forecast; manage receivables and payables; follow up on collections and recommend short-term liquidity actions.
- Reporting and MIS
- Prepare month-end P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow statements; deliver concise MIS with actionable variance commentary within agreed ETAs.
- Invoicing and Collections
- Coordinate timely invoicing for IT services and products; ensure invoices are communicated to customers and proactively follow up on payments.
- Profitability Analysis
- Perform project and product profitability reviews, highlight margin issues, and recommend corrective actions for leadership consideration.
- Scrum Planning and Prioritisation
- Participate in sprint planning to prioritise finance tasks, define ETAs, and track delivery; document owners and timelines for finance deliverables.
- Communication and Documentation
- Record cross-department discussions with clear action items and ETAs; maintain a central log of decisions, follow-ups, and status updates for Sales, Delivery, and HR.
- Compliance and Audit Support
- Prepare and verify GST, TDS, Income Tax, PF, ESI, and Professional Tax filings; validate tax positions with external CA advisors and escalate key issues to leadership; support FEMA and RBI export remittance processes and assist auditors during statutory reviews.
- Controls and Process Improvement Support
- Support implementation and monitoring of internal financial controls and SOX readiness activities; assist in process improvement and automation initiatives as directed.
- Stakeholder Coordination and Approvals
- Work with Sales, Delivery, HR on contract accounting, invoicing, and reconciliations; execute approvals within the defined authority matrix and escalate exceptions.
Qualifications and experience
- Education: M.COM/MBA Finance preferred; CA Inter with relevant experience considered.
- Experience: 57 years progressive finance and accounting experience with at least 2 years handling independent responsibilities in a senior-executive or associate capacity.
- Sector: Prior experience in IT/ITES finance and project accounting is mandatory.
Technical skills and tools
- Accounting systems: Hands-on experience with Tally Prime, Zoho Books, QuickBooks; exposure to ERP Next, SAP Business One, Oracle NetSuite, or similar preferred.
- Excel: Advanced Excel including PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and financial modelling.
- Compliance: Strong working knowledge of Indian taxation, labour compliances, FEMA regulations, and export accounting (LUT, FIRC, eBRC); ability to validate positions with CA and leadership.
- Other: Familiarity with payroll systems, MIS dashboards, and basic BI tools.
