What You'll Be Doing...
The Global Network & Technology organization at Verizon is seeking a highly skilled, self-motivated, and technically proficient Engineer to join our dynamic and fast-paced Core Virtualized Network Operations and Engineering (CNOE) organization. This role will be an integral part of a dedicated 24x7 operations team, focusing on the critical, hands-on tasks of building, operating, and continuously improving our mission-critical core applications that support our 5G and 4G customers.
As a member of the team, your primary focus will be on the execution and technical implementation of operational maintenance and network growth (build) activities for both existing virtualized and non-virtualized systems. You will provide exceptional customer-centric network troubleshooting, including proactive analysis to prevent service disruptions. This role actively contributes to service restoration efforts and expansion/growth by implementing complex technical solutions for network issues, working closely with adjacent teams and vendors to achieve shared objectives. From a network growth perspective, you will execute the plan of record for network function growth in this application space, from build to in-service for our customers.
- Deploying, configuring, and managing virtualized resources at scale, including webscale (containerized) application deployments (e.g., Kubernetes).
- Executing automation scripts and utilizing data analytics and monitoring tools to improve operational efficiency.
- Applying technical expertise to continuous process improvement initiatives.
- Following and updating methods and procedures to ensure the completion and effectiveness of network operations.
- Ensuring technical compliance with administrative, auditory, and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Supporting technical innovation to create new tools and enhance proactive visibility into the customer experience.
What We're Looking For...
You'll need to have:
- Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
- Six or more years of relevant technical experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.
- Proven hands-on technical experience with 5G/4G Core infrastructure and related voice and data call flows.
- Strong experience on OpenStack or OpenShift.
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes (K8s) and cloud architecture.
- Experience with network troubleshooting and operational support, inclusive of call flow capture and debugging expertise utilizing Wireshark and Netscout applications.
- Detailed knowledge and direct experience with Diameter/RADIUS/TCP/IP, BGP, and authentication protocols (Entitlement, EAP-AKA, and REST API).
- Knowledge of fault and performance management systems (fault and performance management systems (SevOne, IrisView, Netscout, ULM, IBM NetCool).
- Schedule Flexibility as there will be work to be performed off hours and sometimes a 24/7 availability.

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Sciences, Software Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
- Experience operating and maintaining mission-critical 24x7 systems.
- Practical experience with virtualized/containerized platforms and related technologies.
