Job Requirements
The Senior Test Engineer will play a critical role in the setup, execution, and analysis of DV, PV, and Qualification testing for sensor products including Pressure, MEMS, Resolver, Humidity, and Position Sensors, with a primary focus on Vibration Testing, Combined Temperature and Vibration (CTV), Mechanical Shock, and Environmental Reliability Testing. This role demands deep hands-on expertise in mechanical and environmental stress testing, strong analytical capability, and thorough command of international test standards and methodologies. Operating from the central T&V Lab in Bangalore, the engineer collaborates closely with global engineering teams to ensure all validation activities meet defined standards, cost targets, and schedule goals. A key dimension of this role is also the active mentoring, coaching, and capability development of fellow colleagues in the lab.
Key Responsbilities
Lead the planning, setup, and execution of Combined Temperature and Vibration (CTV) testing, Mechanical Shock, and Environmental Reliability tests for sensor products across automotive, medical, and industrial applications.
- Define and develop vibration test profiles (random, sinusoidal, swept-sine) and shock pulse parameters in accordance with applicable standards and customer-specific requirements.
- Configure and operate vibration test systems, shaker tables, and associated control systems (e.g., LDS, IMC, Data Physics, or equivalent) integrated with thermal chambers for combined environment testing.
- Develop and validate fixture designs for vibration and shock testing to ensure accurate load transmission and minimize test artifacts.
- Develop and own mechanical and environmental test methods, procedures, and fixtures in full compliance with ISO 17025 lab requirements.
- Perform structural and dynamic response analysis of sensor assemblies to support test planning and failure analysis.
- Lead root cause investigations for shock induced or any other test failure modes, including fatigue, solder joint cracking, connector fretting, resonance-related failures, etc.
- Plan and execute validation and reliability tests for sensor products in accordance with global and customer-specific standards.
- Interpret and apply standards such as IATF 16949, ISO 17025, ISO 13485, AEC-Q100/102/103.
- Develop test plans, procedures, and reports aligned with product requirements and regulatory needs documentation in compliance with ISO 17025 requirements.
- Operate and maintain test equipment for electrical, mechanical, and environmental testing for maintenance, calibration and test efficiency.
- Analyze test data using statistical tools (e.g., Minitab), identify trends, and recommend design or process improvements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including design, quality, and manufacturing to resolve technical issues.
- Collaborate with global design and validation teams to align test scope, timeline and acceptance criteria.
- Contribute to lab standardization and continuous improvement initiatives in test methods, automation, and lab efficiency.
- Ensure Test activities are executed safely in compliance with EHS safety, quality, and documentation standards in the lab environment
- Mentor junior engineers and technicians in test execution and data interpretation to build sustained lab capability.
Desired Skills
- Education: Diploma or Bachelor's in Electrical, Mechanical, or related field.
- Experience: 10-12 years of hands-on experience in product validation, reliability testing, or test engineering preferably in sensors or automotive, medical domain
- Experience in DV/PV test plan preparation, test execution, data analysis and test reports.
- Strong knowledge of environmental, mechanical, and electrical testing methods.
- Demonstrated expertise in vibration testing (random, sinusoidal, swept-sine), mechanical shock, and combined temperature-vibration environments.
- Proficiency with vibration control systems and shaker hardware (e.g., Data Physics, LDS, IMC, or equivalent platforms).
- Familiarity with test automation tools (e.g., LabVIEW, Python) and data acquisition systems.
- Expertise in ISO 17025, IATF, AEC-Q qualification Test methodologies is a must.
- Skilled in use of DAQ, Oscilloscopes, Lab Instruments, Pressure / Vibration / Humidity, Climatic chambers, etc
