We are currently hiring for the position of Engineer / Senior Engineer / Assistant Manager.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Design and qualify primary, secondary and tertiary packaging for syringes, vials and cartridges.
- Develop packaging concepts that ensure product integrity, safety, sterility, and ease of handling.
- Develop and optimise palletized designs (pallet load patterns) for stable storage and transport.
- Conduct transport simulation tests, including: Drop tests, Vibration, Compression, Tilt and Climatic Chamber test.
- Conduct Design qualification (DQ), Installation Qualification (IQ), and Performance Qualification (PQ) for new packaging components.
- Evaluate packaging materials such as PP, PET, PE, paperboard, and biodegradable films.
- Develop eco-friendly packaging using recyclable or biodegradable materials.
- Conduct Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) to measure environmental impact.
- Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality and safety.
- Ensure compliance with international packaging standards including ISO: 11607, USP<1207>, ISTA transport protocols, ASTM D4169, FDA & EU packaging regulations.
- Maintain documentation required for audits, regulatory fillings and quality inspections.
- Work closely with NPD, Production, QA, QC, SCM, Engineering, and vendor teams to ensure smooth project execution.
- Support new product development and product transfer activities.
- Identify, evaluate, and qualify packaging suppliers and conduct supplier audits and ensure adherence to quality and regulatory requirements.
- Perform routine functional testing of packaging materials and components.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, validation protocols, and packaging test records.
- Maintain master data, BOMs, packaging specifications, and change-control documentation.
- Ensure timely submission of packaging documents for audit readiness and compliance.
- Implement improvements based on customer feedback, market trends, or quality deviations.
Educational Qualification:
- BSc/BE/BPharm
- Mandatory: Diploma or Graduation in Packaging Technology
- Additional certification in Packaging Design, ISTA Testing, or Sustainability is an advantage.
Experience:
- 3-10 years of experience in pharmaceutical/medical device/plastic molding packaging development.
- Hands-on experience with transport testing, equipment, packaging validation, and palletization is preferred.
- Experience with regulatory compliance and sterile product packaging is an added advantage.
Competencies and Skills:
- Strong knowledge of primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging systems.
- Understanding of plastics, films, laminates, and paperboard materials.
- Expertise in material testing, barrier properties, and mechanical strength evaluation.
- Good understanding of ISTA, ISO, ASTM, and regulatory standards.
- Proficiency in SAP (MM), AutoCAD/ArtiosCAD, or packaging design tools (preferred).
