Senior Engineer, QA

Location: Bengaluru, Karnataka, India (Hybrid)

Job Term: Full-Time

The Opportunity:

Picarro is seeking an exceptional Sr. QA Engineer to join our team and ensure the quality of our flagship product suite. This transformational data analytics platform enables comprehensive natural gas pipeline leak and upstream emission surveys across the entire natural gas industry supply chain, from wellhead to consumer.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and scale mobile-first automated testing strategies to ensure high-quality iOS and Android applications.
  • Build and maintain robust mobile automation frameworks using tools like Appium, ensuring cross-platform coverage.
  • Develop automated test suites for UI, API, and end-to-end mobile workflows, including device-level interactions.
  • Perform mobile performance, load, and reliability testing, including network variability and real-world usage conditions.
  • Create and execute test plans and test cases tailored to mobile app behavior, device fragmentation, and OS-specific nuances.
  • Define and manage mobile test data, including device states, user scenarios, and environment configurations.
  • Execute automated and exploratory tests on real devices and emulators/simulators, identifying defects, edge cases, and usability issues.
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous testing and rapid feedback on mobile builds.
  • Configure and manage mobile test environments, including device farms (cloud or on-prem).
  • Collaborate closely with developers, product managers, and designers to ensure high-quality mobile user experiences.
  • Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and Agile ceremonies, advocating for testability and automation best practices.
  • Drive improvements in automation coverage, stability, and execution speed for mobile platforms.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience: 7+ years in QA with a strong emphasis on mobile test automation Mobile Automation

Expertise:

  • Strong hands-on experience with Appium.
  • Experience testing native, hybrid, and mobile web applications.
  • Deep understanding of mobile OS behaviors, device fragmentation, and platform-specific challenges.
  • Proficiency in Java (preferred) or similar languages for automation development.

Automation & API Testing:

  • Experience building scalable automation frameworks for mobile UI and backend validation.
  • Strong expertise in API testing (RESTful services) and integration with mobile workflows.

Performance & Reliability:

  • Experience testing mobile app performance, including latency, battery usage, and network conditions.

Tools & Infrastructure:

  • Familiarity with test management tools (JIRA, TestRail, etc.).
  • Experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines, especially for mobile build and test automation.
  • Exposure to device farms (e.g., BrowserStack, Sauce Labs, or in-house solutions).

Agile & Collaboration:

  • Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to work in Agile environments and contribute to QA best practices.
  • Excellent communication skills with a proactive, collaborative mindset.

Good to Have:

  • Experience with real-time data validation using messaging systems like Kafka.
  • Familiarity with NoSQL databases for backend validation.
  • Experience testing mobile apps integrated with hardware devices or IoT systems.
